Looked like making up into a smart handicapper when winning twice in 2017 for Luca Cumani but disappointed last year and since sold to current trainer for 30,000 gns. Plenty to prove now.
Doncaster win in the spring but hasn't looked like following up that since and although 3lb lower now, recent efforts leave her with something to prove.
Carlisle win in May but comes here off the back of three below par runs over 7f and 1m and until showing more is overlooked for win purposes.
Running well at Pontefract of late and although he has yet to win beyond 6f, has shaped as though another go at this trip may bring about a bit of improvement.
Bounced back to best when 2L second to a progressive rival over C&D (good to soft) earlier in the month. 1lb rise for that is fine and should make a bold bid providing the ground doesn't dry out too much
Placed in three maidens when with Owen Burrows but absent since April last year and having changed hands for 8,000 gns in January a market watch seems advisable.
Front-runner who was too keen at Windsor last time when hood was left off. It's back on today and better expected at track where such tactics can pay off with high draw no problem at this trip.
7f winner in Ireland last year and has been campaigned at further of late. Now drops down in trip for new trainer having left Dermot Weld in July for 17,000 gns. Market should guide.
Has been campaigned of late over 6f and ran well when second at Pontefract last time but all career wins have been at this trip and should appreciate return to 7f here.
Well backed when winning at Ayr in cheek pieces in July and they were surprisingly left off when below that form at Leicester last time. Back on today and no surprise should he bounce back.
Just over 1L behind Queens Sargent over C&D earlier in the month and lightly raced enough at this trip to suggest there could be more to come. Place prospects.
In good heart of late and Pontefract winner on subsequent start but all career wins have been at shorter and hasn't totally convinced he stays this trip on previous attempts.
Dual winner on the AW at Newcastle at the turn of the year, ran badly when tailed off following a break on turf debut at Ayr in July. Needs to prove he can cope with turf.
Landed this off 2lb higher mark a year ago (one of three course wins from six visits) and excuses last time when ridden too aggressively on return here. Looks sure to be of interest in follow up bid.
Forecasts
Queen's Sargent (4/1), Saluti (5/1), Start Time (8/1), Absolutio (8/1), John Kirkup (17/2), Global Spirit (9/1), Florenza (11/1), Jewel Maker (12/1), Magical Effect (12/1), Highly Sprung (20/1), Tadaawol (25/1), La Rav (25/1), Dutch Pursuit (33/1), Tamkeen (40/1)
Plenty in with chances in a wide open contest and a narrow vote goes to QUEEN'S SARGENT who bumped into a handicapper on the upgrade here last time. With the hood back on Absolutio can get back on track especially if getting his own way up front, while John Kirkup is another for the short list with the promise of more to come at the distance.
- Queen's Sargent
- Absolutio
- John Kirkup
