Remains in good form but once again found little off the bridle when fourth at Market Rasen last time, seems best when dominating and to that end, this drop in grade will help, but isn't one for the mortgage all the same.
Just two wins from 45 starts shows you the problem, he simply doesn't win enough so despite another perfectly solid effort at Bangor last time, not hard to think that something is going to prove too good for him again.
Landed an almighty gamble on the Flat at Thirsk (33-1 into 9-2) last time out, so clearly something better was expected, Yet to achieve much over hurdles but early days in this sphere and no surprise if he performs better today.
Has left Dan Skelton after a couple of moderate efforts, had previously won over both hurdles and fences so has ability, but might have reached his ceiling for the time being and others make more appeal.
Has shown little in five hurdles starts and not much more on the Flat, including when last of 13 at Lingfield last time, and only really of interest due to the yard's good strike rate at the track (26%).
Winner from 4lb lower at Kelso last September, and there were some positives to take from her Market Rasen run last time out. Ideally needs the rain to stay away but will come on for latest run and holds each-way chances here.
Poor on the Flat and has been well beaten in both starts over hurdles. Hardly looks well treated for handicap debut here and makes next to no appeal.
Only won twice in his 55 race career, tends to run his race more often than not but finishes off weakly and is usually beatable. Hard to fancy for the win.
One win in 31 starts, that coming at Market Rasen (over fences) last year. Going nowhere quickly at present and although he's on a winnable mark, makes little appeal.
Shown very little in four hurdles starts and an early unseat at Southwel last time will hardly have helped the situation. Early days for him but not hard to look elsewhere for the winner.
His run at Perth in July when a close fourth gave indication that there might be a race in him somewhere, but two terrible efforts since then temper confidence. Not written off, but clearly very risky.
Almost landed a gamble at Stratford last week, just denied and the first two clear of the rest. Off same mark here, conditions look fine and as long as rain stays away, she has a clear chance of going one better.
Forecasts
Jaxlight (1/1), Near Kettering (5/2), Ourmullion (7/1), The Herds Garden (12/1), Hey Bob (20/1), Slaney Craiglegacy (20/1), Agentleman (20/1), Istimraar (33/1), Size Matters (40/1), Byronegetonefree (40/1), Stormy Blues (50/1), Pinot Noir (66/1)
If JAXLIGHT is over her exertions from Stratford last week then she holds a first rate chance of going one better off the same mark tonight. There was plenty of money around for her there and she nearly landed the gamble. Compensation awaits here. Near Kettering has already filled the pockets of his supporters, landing a huge gamble at Thirsk and if he can translate that form back over hurdles, could be a danger. Ourmullion has a chance to outclass this lot but he does need to find more when the pressure's applied. Byronegetonefree and Slaney Craiglegacy are worth a look at likely bigger prices.
- Jaxlight
- Near Kettering
- Slaney Craiglegacy
