Given his pedigree the step up to 1m4f was always going to suit when he was well supported to land a Lingfield novice in February. Ran with credit off a five month break in a similar event last time; has handicapping scope stepping up to 2m.
Put some modest efforts behind him when appreciating the 1m4f trip on Fibresand in April to land a 0-65 handicap. Beaten in three handicaps since; all off higher marks (raised 14lb for Southwell win); tries 2m for the first time, career-high mark.
Lightly-raced maiden; disappointed on her handicap debut (well supported); ground may not have suited (too firm). Back to form returned to the AW here last time (1m4f), finished second but looked a hard ride; first try at 2m.
Not really progressing as things stand with both handicap attempts looking to be around the same level over increasing trips. Looked to run into some better-treated sorts last time, faces the same scenario here up in trip once again, should stay.
Typical of one from this yard he showed improved form on handicap debut/up in trip (1m4f) at Epsom in July. Progress stalled in the following two runs; got back on the up last time (first-time visor) over 2m, 2lb well in under a penalty.
Forecasts
Baltic Song (9/4), Blame It On Sally (11/4), Isabella Brant (4/1), Smarter (4/1), Johnny Kidd (13/2)
The step up to 2m in a first-time visor certainly appeared to produce a better performance from BLAME IT ON SALLY at Goodwood last Friday and provided the headgear continues to work his wily trainer has a low base to work from in an attempt to run up a sequence (has multiple entries). Smarter tackles this trip for the first time off what looks to be an inflated mark and the bigger danger looks to be Baltic Song who also tackles this trip for the first time but has the pedigree for it and is already proven on Polytrack. Isabella Brant and Johnny Kidd also tackles this trip for the first time, neither really appeals though, the former looks a tough ride, the latter poorly handicapped.
- Blame It On Sally
- Baltic Song
- Smarter
