Zoffany colt. Cost 50,000gns as a yearling. Half-brother to three winners. Stable among the winners at present (7-30 in past 14 days) and they are enjoying a 32% strike-rate with their two-year-old's this season.
Newcomer for Ballydoyle. One of two representatives for powerful connections. By Galileo. Full brother to talented pair Berkeley Square and First Of Spring. Stable's debutantes tend to improve markedly from their first run.

Showed improvement from debut effort to finish a close second to a well-fancied (4/6f) stablemate at Galway (1m; good) when last seen. Reproduction of that effort should be good enough to see him make it third time lucky.
Bettered uninspiring debut effort, but still well-beaten, when stepped up to this trip for the first time to finish fifth at Gowran Park (1m; yielding to soft) last week. Would need to step up significantly upon that effort to play any major role.
Fasnet Rock colt. Full brother to Multicultural, and is a half-brother to 1m2f two-year-old winner Prefontaine. Could have a say on debut for top stable.

Steps up in trip again after being incapable of landing any sort of a blow in a pair of Naas maidens (6f/7f; good). Looks to be more of a handicap sort.

€15,000 yearling. From the first crop of dual Group 2 two-year-old winner Gutaifan. Half-sister to a 6f winner. Likely to have a bright future, but stable not renowned for having winning newcomers.

Verdict

An opening maiden which can be narrowed down to a trio who hold a realistic chance of being successful. Of the newcomers, Celtic High King and Camorra look the most exciting. The former represents leading connections whose debutantes always tend to need their first racecourse outing, though isn't a strong race to start off in. The latter lines up for a yard having a decent season with their two-year-old's so he should be respected. DELTA DAWN ran to a good level when second to what looks an above-average stablemate of his at the Galway Festival and is the one to beat. That form is by far the strongest on offer, and should be good enough to see him break his maiden duck.
  1. Delta Dawn
  2. Camorra
  3. Celtic High King
