Won a conditions race at Deauville in August 2017 but then well beaten in a Group 3 back at the same course; missed the rest of that season and poor form posted in three starts (back at Deauville) in 2018; a lot to prove on debut for a new yard.

Loves this course and is a four-time C&D winner (also placed twice) so merits a betting check on his Kempton form alone. Well beaten in his last three starts despite good finishing positions but the return to the AW in his favour. Stiff mark though.

Open to a bit of improvement on the AW and handles this track well; won over C&D in October 2017 and a good second the following month. Proved she still retains ability with a couple of near misses lately. Dangerous to rule out.

Dual C&D winner at the start of the year and seems better on the AW than on turf. Off since a poor run at Leicester in April but 2lb lower and can bounce back given his impressive profile from just three runs at this course. One to consider.

Finished a very close second here earlier in the month and not much to find despite racing from a 2lb higher mark; won from much higher on turf, so well worth a betting check with an in-form jockey back in the saddle.

Poor form posted in three previous visits to Kempton and has plenty to prove over a trip which stretches his stamina. Is probably best watched on debut for a new yard.

Debut run when third of 15 at Newmarket (7f, good to firm, in May) was her most promising display so far. Winners have come out of her last race, though, and she's a possible improver now she moves into handicap company. The market can guide.

Course winner for Jeremy Noseda last September and on a handy mark after four moderate efforts in handicaps. Worth a try at this trip and also merits a betting check as he's down to this grade for the first time since last year's success.

Respectable effort over 1m here latest was on the back of an improved run on Tapeta at Wolverhampton; so reasonable to say he arrives in good form. Quite whether the drop back in trip suits is debatable though. Others might be too wily over 7f.

Forecasts

Indian Viceroy (5/2), Stormbomber (11/4), Lady Of Aran (7/2), Kamikaze Lord (8/1), Coverham (12/1), Astrospeed (12/1), Powerful Star (16/1), Epic Adventure (33/1), The Establishment (33/1)

Verdict

LADY OF ARAN and Astrospeed both have good Kempton form to their names and are hard to split; both are still open to a bit of improvement at this trip. However, the first named has run her best races to date when tried at this course and the return to 7f is the decisive factor that just tips the scales in her favour. Indian Viceroy is reunited with Oisin Murphy, who was in the plate when he won at Epsom last August, so also merits serious consideration after a return to something like his best in his latest start, which was over C&D. Handicap debutante Powerful Star and course specialist Coverham are others to bear in mind and complete the shortlist.
  1. Lady Of Aran
  2. Astrospeed
  3. Indian Viceroy
