Decent pedigree; his dam is a half-sister to eight winners from 6f-1m; left his debut run well behind when he made all at Newbury (7f, good) 15 days ago. Concedes weight and switches to a synthetic surface for the first time but is highly respected.

150,000 gns as a foal but went for 25,000 gns as a two-year-old, he's a half-brother to a Lord Kelvin, who won over an extended mile as a juvenile. Stable very quiet and not synonymous with first-time out winners. Others make more appeal.
25,000 gns yearling who is a brother to 1m4f winner To Be Wild; his dam also stayed that sort of trip during a light career in France. Likely he'll need this experience and a sterner test of stamina before too long. (Yard won this race last year.)

21,000 gns two-year-old out of a winning sprinter in North America; bred to be effective on an AW surface, the betting can guide on racecourse debut.

Debut run at Lingfield was forgettable but the colt learned enough to post a much more encouraging display when finishing second on the Polytrack at Chelmsford earlier this month. The winner of that race has kept good company, so no forlorn hope.
Well held in both starts so far (just under 3L behind Rajguru over 6f at Chelmsford last time) and needs to improve for this step up in trip. Looks more likely he'll find his level in handicaps after this.

Poet's Voice colt who ran with promise at Newcastle in July. Started slowly that day but wasn't beaten too far considering his lack of experience and tardiness from the gates. Open to improvement and not much to find to make the frame here.
Dandy Man filly who was beaten less than a length on debut at Chelmsford last week and might find more now she knows what's required from her. Up in grade but very early days. Thereabouts if she copes.

Forecasts

D Day (11/10), Lyricist Voice (9/4), Restless Endeavour (5/1), Rajguru (6/1), Robert Frost (20/1), Go Bob Go (20/1), Jalwan (33/1), Glencoe Boy (33/1)

Verdict

D DAY showed a good level of improvement from his debut run when making all to win at Newbury just over a fortnight ago; and can make this a good test for the rest if he takes another step forward now he's switched to an AW surface. A word of caution would be the form his dam posted on a synthetic surface (she was 0-3 on the AW and was well beaten here twice). That aside, the colt has leading claims in this company. Rajguru and Restless Endeavour are others with scope to make good progress and can draw from previous experience to make things tough for the selection.
