Gelded for his debut this son of Kodiac comes from a yard that won a division of this last year. Cost £45,000 as a yearling; yard 5-37 with 2yo newcomers this year; half-brother to 2yo 6f winner Dutch Gallery, worth a market check.

Took a prominent position in the betting on his debut but didn't show as much as expected over 6f at Catterick (appeared unsuited by the track). No surprise to see him do better with that experience under his belt; yard 10-57 with juveniles (2019).

Newcomer from a yard whose juvenile (unless useful) are generally better for a run (0-42 so far this year). Price dropped markedly from foal to yearling, given the yard statistics likely to need time and a little further, best watched.

Stable well known for their 2yo, this Dark Angel colt being a half-brother to the stables dual 7f winner Irreverent. Interesting newcomer with the yard 12-87 with 2yo debutants this year; certainly, worth noting positive market vibes.

Son of Swiss Spirit who is already gelded for his debut having cost just £5,000 as a yearling; half-brother to several winners, including 5f winners Roman River and Compton River, dam 2yo 5f winner. 2019, yard 1-19 with 2yo newcomers.

One of two runners in this race for the yard but unlike his stablemate this son of Helmet has already had an outing. Looked badly in need of the experience on debut (achieved very little), should know more but hard to see him making an impression.

Already had two starts and looks as though he's being brought along gradually perhaps with handicaps in mind after this outing. Went backwards from his debut; kept to 6f but hard to see him troubling the principals.

Sets the standard having run a sound race on his nursery debut at Nottingham last time; reverts to maiden company. Drew clear with the winner last time, interesting to see connections revert to this sphere; faces some potentially decent newcomers.
Would be an unlikely winner for a stable not noted for their juvenile winners let alone those on debut (2-93 with 2yo newcomers since 1997). By Dandy Man, cost €13,500 as a yearling; dam unraced, surprising if she makes an impact.

Gradually got the hang of things throughout her debut at Redcar (6f) having been very green early on. Faces another difficult task but not without ability; possible for nurseries once she has a mark over longer trips than she faces here.
Given that she's a daughter of Fast Company plus a half-sister to a 5f winner Dream Revival her pedigree is promising enough. Yard 0-3 with 2yo's in the past five seasons; would be an unlikely winner in what looks a decent field.

Verdict

The standard is certainly set by LEAPERS WOOD who showed plenty of ability in maiden/novice events before being given his nursery debut last time out off what appeared to be a handy opening mark. Just edged out it’s interesting that connections choose to revert to this company although he has been raised 5lb in handicaps. The main dangers look to come via a bunch of potentially useful newcomers from top Northern stables with the already gelded Alioski, Gravity Force and Deb’s Delight being the pick of that bunch the first two coming from trainer’s – Kevin Ryan and Karl Burke – who have won this division of the race before. Bal Mal and Lasting Legacy add some depth to an interesting heat.
