AW specialist who is not the force of old, and only one solid turf effort in his entire career. Better than the bare result at Chelmsford last time, and never been so low in the weights, so can't be ruled out.
Largely consistent this year going close several times before a rare poor effort at Bath last time. Easy to excuse that on various counts, and expected to bounce back now.
Made all to win over 5f at Ripon last year, but this season's efforts come nowhere near that and he was well beaten off this mark at Lingfield last time.
Shaped well over C&D on penultimate start, and built on that when beating Monarch Maid here on Thursday. Penalised for a narrow win, but going the right way, and merits serious consideration.
Form looks very patchy, but he is falling in the weights, and didn't shape that badly when down the field at Carlisle in July. Capable of better, and market likely to be a good guide to his chances.
In a rich vein of form at present, finishing second on both starts since bolting up at Thirsk last month. Weighted to reverse latest C&D placings with Simba Samba, and one for the shortlist in current mood.
Best effort to date when third in first-time cheekpieces (refitted now) at Chelmsford in May. Not repeated that in subsequent runs, failing to beat a rival over C&D last time without the headgear.
Improved on previous poor turf form when 3¼L third of 8 to Haveoneyerself over C&D last time. Needs to improve again to get involved here, but is unexposed, so may yet do better.
Forecasts
Simba Samba (6/4), Dahik (11/4), Monarch Maid (7/2), Dark Side Dream (14/1), Archimedes (14/1), Swell Song (20/1), Gifted Zebedee (33/1), Awarded (66/1)
MONARCH MAID has enjoyed a renaissance of late, and is weighted to reverse recent C&D form with Simba Samba. The latter is still improving, though, so won't be a pushover, while Archimedes should bounce back to form after a rare blip at Bath last time. Dahik has little recent form, but merits a market check from his falling mark after catching the eye last time.
