Looking very well treated on old form but has shown next to nothing in three starts this season. Takes a drop in grade, but not even that is enticing enough to make any sort of case for her here.
Tries hard but does find getting his head in front tough. Far from disgraced in a competitive event at Galway last time out and conditions here ought not be a problem, but might find the places is once again the best he can hope for.
Winner over C&D two starts ago and already has a victory to his name with this pilot aboard, so has some plus points, but this ground might be a concern and he could do with it drying out some more. Not dismissed if it does.
Left Marco Botti in the spring, only had three runs for new yard but much more promise in his last run at Newmarket when a staying on third. Cheekpieces back on, and if handling this slower ground, looks one of the more interesting ones.
Better known for his hurdling exploits these days but stayed on dourly to score on the Flat at Yarmouth a fortnight ago. Versatile ground wise, good pilot booked and has to hold a leading chance here.
Best days behind him now but a couple of his efforts this summer still show the fire burns. This trip more suitable than last time, ground no issue and this rider knows him well. Place chances here if he can refind his better form.
Not the biggest but has a hurdles win to his name and scored at the first time of asking for his new yard at Yarmouth last month. Still in form but this ground might be a concern, with better form on quicker.
Went close over 14f at Yarmouth in May but two pretty dreadful efforts followed that and hard to know what sort of form he's in now. This trip probably on the short side anyway, and easy enough to look elsewhere.
Has a C&D victory (under this rider) to his name, albeit back in 2016, looking very well treated now and a couple of recent efforts suggest there's still races in him. Not out of this, and might well try and make all.
Drinks at the bar are few and far between but he has ability and was beaten less than a length (14f) here in July. Not disgraced at Redcar last time either, handles some cut and has place chances here, at worst.
Forecasts
Mauricio (2/1), Snookered (9/2), Percy Prosecco (6/1), Be Perfect (15/2), Tapis Libre (17/2), Jan De Heem (9/1), Galactic Spirit (16/1), Duke Of Yorkshire (22/1), Strictly Art (25/1), Rayna's World (33/1)
Some guesswork required here, as one of the old guard - Tapis Libre, Duke Of Yorkshire or Jan De Heem - could bounce back to form under conditions that suit them, and of the three, preference is for Duke Of Yorkshire, who will be dangerous if allowed to dictate terms. But they may have to give way to younger legs, with Galactic Spirit and MAURICIO making more appeal. With an inexperienced rider on board, Galactic Spirit may have to wait until another day, but Mauricio has the excellent Serena Brotherton aboard and that could make the difference. Snookered runs more good races than bad and has place chances too.
- Mauricio
- Duke Of Yorkshire
- Snookered
