Won Ludlow 2m h'cap chaser in May but has been a shade disappointing in three starts since. Winner's penalty could make life tough here although may not be far away if on song.

Has been a fair hurdler and landed first chase success when winning at Uttoxeter in 2m h'cap chase last time, scoring with a bit in hand and raised 8lb since. That will have boosted confidence and is respected despite having incurred 6lb penlaty.

Three-tme Flat winner whose sole NH success came in Leicester selling hurdle in December. Fit from the Flat after a spin at Nottingham last month where respectable fifth but rated some way adrift of others over hurdles so may struggle.

Fair dual purpose performer. Won Musselburgh 2m4f maiden hurdle in February but failed to follow up in trhee attempts. May be right type for chasing and yard ticking over steadily this summer.

4-12 over hurdles including 2m handicap at Worcester last month. Both jockey and trainer in fine form at present so no surprise to see him go well on chasing bow. Sure to have been well schooled.

Promising hurdler in 2016/17 for Alan King, winning three times. Raced only six times since, including falling when in touch on chasing bow at Uttoxeter in December. Clearly had issues but makes debut for new handler and looks a player.

Verdict

An intriguing novice chase in which slight preference is for LOVATO, who hails from a yard in terrific form. He was a solid second over hurdles last time, is fit, and should know his job on chasing debut. River Frost was the classiest over timber but has had his problem. He makes his debut for Ben Haslam and the market may prove very informative. Previous chase winners Capital Force and Utility have to concede 6lb to the rest but are by no means out of it, while Landsman is no mug either and has to be respected on his chasing bow too.
