Well handicapped on old form but hard to assess the worth of his efforts in two claimers in France prior to his below par run at Sandown late last month. Has a bit to prove on these terms.
In good heart since joining his current yard and gained a deserved win over this trip at Pontefract earlier in the month. He can still get competitive from just a 2lb higher mark and again merits a place on the shortlist.
Usually consistent and back on turf after a rare poor effort at Kempton last month; he's winless since his juvenile season but has made the frame on numerous occasion. The yard is going well so has to merit a betting check at least.
Finished ahead of Regimented on her penultimate start but was never in contention at Chelmsford last time and needs to bounce back from that poor run. Back on a winning mark so feasible she can do so; another to monitor closely.
Broke through the stalls and withdrawn on her planned seasonal debut in April and not much impact in two runs since. That's not the only time she's been keen at the start but possible this step up in trip will compensate for any keenness.
Placed three times prior to a disappointing run in a lower grade last time out and does need to up his game on that evidence. However, he's very well handicapped on past form and will be suited by the return to a mile. Can be a player.
Won at Lingfield on her seasonal debut but struggled to hold her own and now down in the ratings after three regressive performances. Still 5lb above that last winning mark but past form gives her a squeak. Still dangerous to overlook.
Went close on his first start after being gelded when a neck second at Lingfield on Tuesday and has to be of interest that he's back out so quickly. Looks a step ahead of the assessor at present and sound claims if he can better his past turf form.
Up 3lb for a narrow win (wore a tongue tie for the first time) in a Pro-AM lady riders race at Brighton nine days ago. Been consistent lately, so fully deserved that success. More to do now but conditions should be OK and is another who can figure.
Forecasts
Secret Return (2/1), Tukhoom (9/2), Merweb (5/1), Arabian Jazz (6/1), Sir Roderic (8/1), Regimented (8/1), Rogue (10/1), Pickett's Charge (11/1), Here's Two (25/1)
A tough one to call and the likes of Sir Roderic, Secret Return, and Tukhoom all make some appeal in what is a wide open contest. However, there is also likely to be more to come from MERWEB, who ran a blinder on his first start since being gelded when a close second at Lingfield earlier in the week and his quick return to action is taken as a big hint that now might just be the time to strike. A bold run form the equally lightly weighted Pickett's Charge would also come as no surprise in a race where it may pay to cover a couple of bases at least.
- Merweb
- Sir Roderic
- Secret Return
