Slowly away over C&D last time but kept on to be respectable second without ever threatening the winner. Deosn't appear to have too many gears, but eased 1lb and may again have to settle for a place.

Kept on over 7f at Epsom last time to be fair third and has been dropped 1lb since then. Has suggested this mile might be within his compass so has a chance of getting involved if he sees it out.

Speedy US pedigree doesn't shout a mile but all three races to date have come at this trip without ever looking likely to get involved. Handicap bow though for top yard and quite probable she will acquit herself well.

Runner-up on soft ground over C&D in June but has failed to fire on his last two starts. More needed here if he is to figure in first-time blinkers.

10-race maiden who has flattered to deceive a few times. 2lb lower than when fifth, beaten four lengths here on penultimate start.

Placed four times from his last six starts, all at 1m2f. Connections decided to drop down in trip here in hope of better fortune and interesting to see if this move brings about any improvement.

Only place to date came over 6f at Chelmsford last autumn. Never involved in two handicaps over 7f and 6f so far this term. Worth a try at a mile having failed to act on Fibresand at Southwell on only previous attempt at this trip.

Possibly didn't quite get home here last time over 1m1f and no surprise to see him eased back a furlong. Not beaten too far in three of last four starts and again hs each-way prospects.

Stuck on gamely for a neck success over 1m1f at Musselburgh in May, and failed by only a head over extended mile at Nottingham on penultimate start. Well beaten favourite latest on heavy ground and is excused. Solid chance if fully recovered.

Showed nothing on first four starts then failed by just a short-head to land a shock win over 7f in maiden handicap here last month. Not certain extra furlong is required but appears to be going the right way.

Top yard continues in superb form and kept on well to land first win over extended 7f at Lingfield last week. Carries 6lb penalty and has to be feared as he remains on a very modest mark.

Scored off 4lb lower mark at Brighton over 7f in July but appears to have well and truly gone off the boil with four very moderate efforts of late. Hard to enthuse over on that evidence.

Seemed to really enjoy the helter skelter nature of racing at Chester when landing first career win there last time over extended 7f. This is a completely different challenge and she'll do well to follow up.

Forecasts

Break Of Day (15/8), Reconnaissance (7/2), Ifton (7/1), Purgatory (11/1), Approve The Dream (11/1), Red Archangel (12/1), Petite Malle (12/1), Salmon Fishing (12/1), Jazz Hands (18/1), Symphony (28/1), Secret Treaties (28/1), Congress Place (33/1), Princess Florence (50/1)

Verdict

BREAK OF DAY was rated just 47 when winning at Lingfield last week, one of the lowest rated winners for her top yard in many a year. Even under her 6lb penalty she has the look of a horse who could be a step or two ahead of the handicapper, and if recovered from her exertions should prove hard to stop. Jazz Hands has a chance if you over look his struggle in heavy ground last time, and Symphony comes here on the back of a win at Chester. This is a very different challenge. Blinkers may help Purgatory, while Petite Malle is a potential improver.
