Drops in class returned to the Flat having yet to show his true worth over hurdles (unseated rider last time). Would probably prefer further around this sharp track but has an advantage with most at the weights; placed on heavy ground in France.
Ran a very lack lustre race on his first start for this yard having shown some fair form for two previous yards in a variety if races. Flew too high last time (0-80 handicap), finishing last; tongue-tie no applied, plenty to find in reality.
Useful performer in the past and still capable in this grade having won a Redcar seller (1m2f, good-to-soft) on his penultimate start (given a good opportunity). Made a decent return to handicaps at Haydock (1m) recently; second try beyond 1m2f.
Frequent visitor to this venue (two-time C&D winner) but showing little signs of breaking a losing streak that stretches back some three years now. Drops in grade (third in previous run at this level) again; very inconsistent, hard to rely on.
The only 3yo in the field he receives weight from the entire field making his second start for this yard (previously with Archie Watson). Below form last time (Ripon handicap); failed to impress with his attitude when last seen here in June.
Forecasts
Desert Point (5/6), First Flight (5/4), Alpasu (14/1), Fillydelphia (25/1), Bold Statement (100/1)
Not an event that is designed to having you strapping the betting boots on with the best of a poor bunch looking to be DESERT POINT as there are question marks over all of the others. In to be claimed for £25,000 his last effort on the Flat was respectable and this represents an easier task. The ground shouldn’t be a worry as he was placed on heavy in Listed company when trained in France. Finding a reliable sort to chase home the selection isn’t easy although by default First Flight qualifies after he ran a decent third over 1m at Haydock on Saturday in a better race than this; this trip will test his suspect stamina though. Alpasu inherits the “battle” for the minor placing.
