Made a convincing start to his career winning a 5f soft ground novice at Lingfield despite looking rather inexperienced (had the advantage of the stands rail). Yard impressive with 2yo's this season, likely to be tough to beat under a penalty.

Both efforts over 5f so far haven't shown him in the best light (looks short of pace; needs 6f plus). Slow away last time at Thirsk he did best of those held up (has ability); looks more one for nurseries once he has a mark over further.

Cheekpieces go on for his fourth start having already been rewarded with a lowly handicap mark after three uninspiring starts. Showed some speed on the AW last time but faces very different conditions here, has been gelded since last seen.

C&D winner (claiming grade) on good ground showing some improvement from her first three starts. Well backed followed up with a nursery win on the AW (positively ridden) over 5f again; looks the main danger despite facing a different scenario.

Won't lack for experience as this will be her sixth start but despite some placed efforts she does look limited. Ran up to her best last time over 5f at Nottingham (runner up); has experienced soft ground on her debut.

Yard hardly known for their 2yo runners let alone winners. This daughter of Swiss Spirit has shown next to nothing so far in two starts (both over 5f) finishing last both times; hard to see her making much of an impact.

Verdict

Trainer Archie Watson has a good record with his first-time out juveniles so it was no surprise to see MAYSTAR win on his debut relishing the soft ground at Lingfield as plenty of the stock of Mayson do. Despite the penalty he faces weak opposition in a bid to follow up and with the trainer having an equally good record with his juveniles second time out another win looks on the cards. C&D winner Blitzle will need to improve on what she’s shown so far but it should be remembered she comes here seeking a hat-trick although the ground will be different to her two wins so far (has disappointed on good-to-soft). Microscopic looks rather limited and Rapid Russo is preferred for the minor placing.
  1. Maystar
  2. Blitzle
  3. Rapid Russo
