7f course winner last season. Well held in two handicaps this year. Since gelded. That needs to induce a big revival.
7f Leicester winner as a juvenile. Has gone close in two fast ground handicaps at Newmarket and Windsor recently. Same mark as last time out today, so more needed, but should be thereabouts.
Soft ground C&D winner in a novice event in April. Not as good in either start since, including when last of six on handicap debut at Nottingham last time. 1lb drop. Much more needed.
Five-start maiden who came closest to winning a few days ago at Goodwood, when a neck second (1m, good). Up 3lb for that improved effort, and looks a contender.
7f Yarmouth (good to soft) nursery winner last season, when 12lb lower and with Richard Hannon. Has run up a string of second-place efforts this term, so handicapper relucantant to drop him. Goes on any ground. Very competitive.
Has been bridesmaid on four occasions without yet winning. One of his better efforts came when beaten just ½L at Wolverhampton (1m1½f, AW) in March, when 1lb lower. Returns from a break, but has run well fresh before. Considered.
Wolverhampton novice winner (7f, AW) this time last year. A slide in the handicap and wind surgery has enabled him to become more competitive lately. Further 1lb drop here and should be thereabouts.
Has stepped up markedly on his juvenile form this season, winning his last two at Brighton and then Sandown (both 7f, good to firm). Up 6lb for the latter, but may still have a bit more up his sleeve.
Sliding in the weights, but well held here over 1m2f (good) last time. New headgear tried, and drops 2lb, but not yet showing enough consistency to feel confident that he can produce his best.
Forecasts
Ginger Fox (11/4), Bring Us Paradise (9/2), Hawridge Storm (5/1), House Of Kings (11/2), Barossa Red (6/1), Self Assessment (12/1), La Voix Magique (12/1), Deebee (16/1), Drogon (16/1)
A competitive opener on paper, but BRING US PARADISE looks like there is further improvement to come and is taken to complete a hat-trick. Ginger Fox could be his biggest danger, while Barossa Red, Self Assessment, Hawridge Storm and House Of Kings are others who can't be ruled out.
- Bring Us Paradise
- Ginger Fox
- Hawridge Storm
