Formerly a top level handicapper so it was pleasing to see him back in the winners enclosure at Ayr (5f, good to firm) last month; has slightly blotted his copybook since; turned out quickly after Monday's Carlisle run (sixth).

Reasonably solid in defeat since scoring over 5f at Thirsk (good to soft) in May; has plenty of speed which won't be blunted should the forecast heavy rain arrive; likely to be there or thereabouts.

Now 8lb lower than when winning for Mick Channon at Bath (5½f, good) in April 2018; 0-7 for her current trainer and only third of four (beaten 5L) to Dandy's Beano in a Class 4 fillies' handicap at Newcastle last month.

Sold out of Chris Dwyer's stable for 12,000gns last December and well below her peak form since (admittedly over 7f latest); slowly into stride on both previous occasions that she's been partnered by this rider; difficult to fancy.

Certainly capable as a dual C&D scorer (incl on good to soft); however, she has become difficult to predict and has twice disappointed since finishing second to today's rival Robot Boy at Ayr (5f, good to firm); feasibly could bounce back.

I'll Be Good17

6/1
Veteran; without a win since September 2016 (5f, Chester); beaten less than 1L by Cuppacoco at Redcar (5f, good) in June; out of the handicap proper but the more rain the merrier with regards his winning chance; of interest.

Le Manege Enchantev17
Age: 6|  Weight: 9-2| J: Miss Serena Brotherton| T: D Shaw| OR:  46| D

Regularly placed on the AW over the course of the past 12 months, most recently when beaten by a short-head and a head at Wolverhampton (5f) in July; it's relevant to acknowledge the booking of Serena Brotherton as a positive.

Forecasts

Indian Pursuit (5/2), Robot Boy (3/1), Marietta Robusti (11/2), I'll Be Good (6/1), Le Manege Enchante (6/1), Pea Shooter (6/1), Teepee Time (15/2), The Lacemaker (28/1)

Verdict

Heavy rain is forecast for Friday, so it's highly likely that the ground conditions will have changed significantly since racing here on Thursday. Therefore, in a relatively unappealing Lady Amateurs' handicap a real chance is taken on the veteran soft ground specialist I'LL BE GOOD. Without a win since September 2016 he's hardly the safest of options, but for small stakes is worth an each-way interest after demonstrating that he retains ability at Redcar. For those seeking an alternative, Indian Pursuit should also be in the thick of the battle come the finish.
