Scored for the first time on the Flat when switched to handicaps in first-time blinkers at Doncaster (1m4f), winning with a little in hand. Still unexposed at this level he should have more to offer but does have to cope with improving 3yo's.

Quirky/inconsistent sort who improved in terms of form/attitude to win at Newbury last time (defied market weakness). Nudged up 2lb for that effort some of his previous efforts leave doubts about him; may prove vulnerable in follow up bid.

Cashed in on a falling mark/increased trip to score on the AW (debut on synthetics) over this trip (well positioned throughout). Failed to back up his victory under different circumstances (turf/back in trip) last time; winning form rather weak.

Form steadily improving in line with the upward curve that the yard is on; ran well last time (runner up) versus one who had the run of the race at Chepstow (1m4f). Should have no problem back up in trip with a decent mark still to exploit.

Verdict

This is the biggest field this race has attracted in it’s short history with the weight-for-age advantage held by the three-year-olds over staying trips at the moment looking to give ROAD TO PARIS a good opportunity. The upward curve in his form matches that of the trainer’s only failing to score in a messy race at Chepstow last time he should break his maiden here. One of the other three-year-olds Starczewski provides the main danger and he looks the pick of the David Simcock pair although stablemate Trailboss offers an able deputy for the yard and looks very much the pick of the older brigade.
  1. Road To Paris
  2. Starczewski
  3. Trailboss
