10/3
Made all when scoring by 6L in a C&D seller (good) 17 days ago; doesn't appear to be harshly handicapped off an opening mark of 70; merits respect on the assumption that he'll handle the forecast softer ground.

River of Kings17
Age: 2|  Weight: 9-3| J: J Fanning| T: K Dalgleish| OR:  66

Has failed to progress since making a mildly promising debut at Pontefract (5f, good to firm) in May; 150/1 when 23rd of 24 in the Weatherbys Super Sprint Stakes at Newbury latest.

Placed over C&D on debut for this trainer (formerly with Jamie Osborne) in June; drops back in trip on his second nursery start.

Secret Identity32
Age: 2|  Weight: 9-1| J: J Garritty| T: Jedd O'Keeffe| OR:  64
9/1
Equiano filly; hasn't exactly set the world alight, although was in the shake-up under similar conditions at Thirsk (6f, good to soft) in June; could fare better now sent handicapping.

Horse silk
Knightcap13
Age: 2|  Weight: 9-1| J: D Allan| T: T D Easterby| OR:  64
11/2
Finished 6L fourth to the subsequent Group 3 Princess Margaret Stakes winner Under The Stars over C&D (good to firm) in July; weakened over 7f at Catterick latest and is eased in the weights a further few pounds; trainer saddles three runners.

Shepherds Way11
Age: 2|  Weight: 9-1| J: G Lee| T: M Dods| OR:  64
16/1
Dark Angel filly (£31,000 yearling); has progressed steadily with each of her three qualifying runs; still early days and rates as the type to fare better in this grade; market helpful, the high draw less so.

Horse silk
Singe Anglais21
Age: 2|  Weight: 9-0| J: Faye McManoman(5)| T: N Tinkler| OR:  63
11/1
Landed the odds (1/2f) in a very winnable contest when dropped back to 5f at Beverley (good to firm) three weeks ago; up in trip on nursery debut; stablemate of Fulbeck Rose.

Il Maestrov14
Age: 2|  Weight: 9-0| J: Jason Hart| T: J & S Quinn| OR:  63
20/1
Cost €33,000 as a yearling but has proved disappointing so far; slowly away on nursery debut at Musselburgh (5f, good) a fortnight ago; makes his second start as a gelding; needs a sharp upturn in form in order to figure.

Horse silk
War of Clans22
Age: 2|  Weight: 8-12| J: Harrison Shaw(5)| T: K R Burke| OR:  61
12/1
Made late headway when finishing 4½L fourth to Infinite Grace over 5f here (good) in July - form boosted since by Dandizette; 2lb lower and well worth a try over 6f; very closely matched with Ice Skate; one of three to carry the Ontoawinner silks.

(3)
Horse silk
Little Ted31
Age: 2|  Weight: 8-12| J: J P Sullivan| T: T D Easterby| OR:  61
25/1
Cityscape colt; hasn't shown a great deal of obvious promise to date; makes his nursery debut for a trainer who also saddles both Knightcap and Ice Skate.

(10)
Horse silk
Schumli13
Age: 2|  Weight: 8-12| J: R P Downey| T: D O'Meara| OR:  61
33/1
Showed improved form when making the frame in a 6f Catterick maiden (good to soft) last month; a degree of further progress couldn't be ruled out now introduced to handicapping.

Horse silk
Typsy Toad14
Age: 2|  Weight: 8-9| J: Sean Davis(3)| T: R A Fahey| OR:  58
28/1
Casamento colt; well beaten on all three starts to date (6f-7½f); difficult to build any form of constructive case for on nursery debut; stablemate of Mr Gus.

Horse silk
Mr Gus18
Age: 2|  Weight: 8-5| J: P Mathers| T: R A Fahey| OR:  54
8/1
Ran on from the rear to get within approximately 1L of Ebony Adams on nursery debut at Nottingham (6f, good) 18 days ago; has every chance in a modest nursery if replicating that improved form; stablemate of Typsy Toad.

Ice Skate22
Age: 2|  Weight: 8-3| J: D Fentiman| T: T D Easterby| OR:  52
16/1
Has taken a while to find her feet, but found a more steady footing when finishing third to Infinite Grace (today's rival War Of Clans fourth) over 5f here (good) latest; possible player back up to 6f.

Horse silk
Fulbeck Rose17
Age: 2|  Weight: 8-0| J: A Mullen| T: N Tinkler| OR:  45
100/1
Well beaten in a C&D seller latest and faces a seemingly impossible task against the decisive 6L winner Isobar Wind; out of the handicap proper; look elsewhere with confidence.

Result Amended

Singe Anglais - Original Position 2nd. Amended Position 1st.
War of Clans - Original Position 1st. Amended Position 2nd.

Forecasts

Isobar Wind (10/3), What A Business (5/1), Knightcap (11/2), Mr Gus (8/1), Secret Identity (9/1), Singe Anglais (11/1), War of Clans (12/1), Ice Skate (16/1), Shepherds Way (16/1), Il Maestro (20/1), Little Ted (25/1), River of Kings (25/1), Typsy Toad (28/1), Schumli (33/1), Fulbeck Rose (100/1)

Verdict

Any number of these juveniles could fare better now introduced to handicapping with the likes of Schumli and Shepherds Way obvious examples, while the solid course form (5f) of both Ice Skate and War Of Clans has been given a timely boost since by the Musselburgh scorer Dandizette. Isobar Wind bolted up in a C&D seller recently and probably isn't punitively handicapped despite carrying top-weight in today's contest so merits a degree of respect. However, a chance is taken on the Richard Fahey-trained Slade Power colt MR GUS who demonstrated clear promise when finishing well (fourth) from off the pace on nursery debut at Nottingham 18 days ago.
  1. Mr Gus
  2. War of Clans
  3. Isobar Wind
