Had been in sparking form winning back to back races at Pontefract before disappointing at Yarmouth on his latest start in July; does not look particularly well treated now and others preferred.

Some of his best efforts have come here but the jury is still out in judging his best trip. Headed close home over course and distance and upped in the handicap as a consequence; should run his race but may find one or two too good.

Turned out quickly at Haydock having been placed over a mile to land a 1m2f contest two weeks ago; consistent and looks to be improving; up in the weights but has leading chance.

Just held on to land a Redcar claimer over 1m2f last time out; much more needed this time but obviously in good heart and difficult to rule out despite not being particularly well handicapped at present.

Sole win came over 1m2f at Beverley (good to firm) last season, when 9lb lower. Nudged up another 2lb after going close at Ripon (1m) last time. Appears to handle good to soft, but faster ground possibly ideal.

Fairly consistent performer over a variety of trips and surfaces; has showed signs of improved form of late and certainly one to consider.

Front runner who bounced back to form after three moderate performances at Beverley last time out when only headed in the final furlong; races from same mark today; live chance.

Reasonably consistent but arguably better on the AW these days; not especially well treated by the handicapper but should run his race.

Bollin Ted6
Age: 5|  Weight: 9-10| J: Mrs Emily Roberts| T: T D Easterby| OR:  61| BF
10/1
Beverley specialist who put up an improved performance in defeat last time out and is clearly in good heart; goes well for his jockey and has a leading chance though arguably would not want too much more rain.

On a long losing streak but possibilities on the very best of his form.

Off the mark at the 19th time of asking when successful in a 1m2f handicap at Beverley (good-to-firm) two weeks ago. More needed racing from out of the handicap.

Forecasts

Anif (4/1), Kannapolis (5/1), Indomeneo (5/1), Ghayyar (13/2), Edgar Allan Poe (7/1), Ideal Candy (8/1), Bollin Ted (10/1), The Navigator (10/1), Granite City Doc (12/1), Zealous (18/1), Bob's Girl (25/1)

Verdict

A chance is taken that IDEAL CANDY can make all here. He was not beaten too far last time out and was staying on in the final furlong. A repeat of that performance will see him go close. An obvious danger is Richard Fahey's recent Haydock winner Indomeneo who could still be improving and could be ahead of the handicapper. Connections of Bollin Ted will be hoping the rain stays away from the Cumbria track with their charge in great form at the moment while stablemate Ghayyar is consistent on any surface and capable of landing a place at the very least.
