Readily won a Ripon handicap over 6f in May 2018 but has struggled in all appearances since. Now back below last winning mark so not totally out of it but current form a worry.

Refused to race last time out but had previously been running admirably including winning at Ayr over the minimum trip; possibly not too well treated by the handicapper and others preferred.

Has some decent form over this trip this season with best effort coming at Haydock in June. Excuses (wide draw) at Chester last time out and looks one of the leading candidates.

Found it hard to settle when sent over seven furlongs last time out at Leicester having previously been running well over shorter at Chelmsford, Bath and Wolverhampton. Definite if reproducing that form.

Seems to have gone backwards since winning bravely at Thirsk in June; front runner; obvious chance on best of his form but hard to make a case for in current mood.

Three of his four career wins have been achieved with some cut in the ground but the gelding has rarely made much of an impact since his last victory (September 2018 from a mark of 62). better form of late and one to consider.

Looking very well handicapped at present and has shown signs of late in two runs at Hamilton to suggest he could be soon back to winning ways; interesting contender and market moves would be a plus.

Needs to put a poor effort at Ayr last time out behind him but otherwise he has produced some excellent displays in defeat this season and loves this track; definite contender.

Has won two of his last three races both over course and distance; excuses last out Ayr when he missed the break; definite chance on a course he loves though might not want the course to ride too slow.

Not the most consistent on turf and has a much better record on the AW; has run well over course and distance in the past so not totally out of it but not one to really trust.

Well beaten in recent starts; others hold stronger claims dropping in trip from out of the handicap with eyeshield replacing cheekpieces worn the last twice.

Verdict

GOTTARDO did not enjoy his attempt at 7f last time out at Leicester but had previously shown good form over shorter; open to improvement over this trip he is the selection in a race where many have chances. Although racing from out of the handicap Ventura Secret loves it around this course and has good recent form. He needs to bounce back from a poor recent run at Ayr but has a leading chance if doing so. Redrosezorro has shown enough good recent form to suggest he could be winning again soon while Madrinho had excuses last time out but has the form in the past to play a leading role here.
