Is a former C&D scorer but has been out of form lately, failing to beat a rival at Epsom on previous start, and hard to fancy despite this being a class-drop.

Knocking on the door earlier in the year on the AW after joining this yard, maiden hurdle winner since and should be in mix now back in this sphere from workable mark.

Quick-fire hat-trick in April included 1m2f Brighton success either side of AW scores at 1m4f. Hasn't been in the same form since however and hard to fancy despite mark having slipped below previous win-level.

Mare won three of nine starts in 2018, including over this sort of trip at Yarmouth in October from 1lb lower mark. Two tame efforts on AW thereafter and now returns from an absence with market a decent guide.

Showed clear improvement to win at Wolverhampton in novice company over 1m1½f last month, but must now prove that can be translated to turf back in handicap from testing mark.

Son of Canford Cliffs, much-improved in first-time cheekpieces (retained) when winning 13-runner handicap here (1m2f, good to firm) last month. Could be more to come from increased mark (entered at Bath on Friday evening).

Best form has been on the AW so far and was again easily fended off over this sort of trip at Windsor in June. Still has something to prove in this sphere.

Six-race Flat maiden, no show in two starts over hurdles this year and must improve back on the level to stand a chance of opening account.

Forecasts

Sir Canford (2/1), Zamperini (2/1), Givepeaceachance (4/1), Hatsaway (7/1), Foresee (7/1), Al Daayen (15/2), Contingency Fee (8/1), Lily Ash (9/1), Mr Fox (16/1), Whims Of Desire (16/1), Highway Bess (33/1), Milldean Felix (50/1)

Verdict

Sir Canford will be on the shortlist should he turn up here, though he's got an engagement at Bath on Friday evening to take in first. Givepeaceachance didn't get much luck in running last time at Wolverhampton and makes some appeal while any money coming for the reappearing Lily Ash should be noted, given she won three times last year before tailing off at season's end. ZAMPERINI has some good form on the AW after joining Gary Moore this year and, a winner over hurdles since, he's possibly got fair claims from his current perch back in this sphere racing on turf.
  1. Zamperini
  2. Lily Ash
  3. Givepeaceachance
