His losing run goes back to a success in this race back in 2017 when benefiting from an overly strong gallop. Won't mind any rain that arrives but probably a little out of his depth in a race of this nature these days.

Group 2 winner as a juvenile and belatedly got his head back in front in a Listed race at Doncaster at the end of last season. Not at his best so far this season and needs genuine soft or heavy conditions to be seen at his best.

Won a C&D handicap last year and went on to win a Listed race at Kempton in November. Not the most consistent sort and would need a career best to mix it with these, versatile with regards ground at least; seasonal bow.

Front-runner who was only narrowly denied in the French Guineas last year and has returned as good as ever, winning Listed/Group 3 races prior to a second in a Group 2 at the Curragh last time out. Live player with an uncontested lead possible.

Won four times in 2018 including a win in this race prior to a Newbury Group 2 win. Respectable run in the Lockinge on return but disappointed in a Listed race last time. Soft ground a plausible excuse for that and respected back down in trip here.

Ran a huge race when fourth in the Diamond Jubilee last month but only narrowly got up when a short price for a Listed race at the Curragh last time out. Has shaped like this step up in trip could suit at times but others make more appeal.

Keeneland Group 1 winner back in 2017 and running well in defeat since, including when second to Sir Dancealot in this last year. Strong traveller who's still capable at this level, particularly if the ground dries out; wears first-time cheekpieces.

One of several older improvers for the yard in 2019, winning a Listed race at Ascot before a Group 3 success at Epsom. Only narrowly denied in an Ascot Group 2 last time (Suedois third) in a career best effort; drop to 7f not certain to suit though.

Produced some promising efforts in Listed company this campaign prior to a career-best effort when winning the Jersey Stakes at Royal Ascot last time out on his second try at this trip. Fascinating contender with the three-year-old allowance.

Forecasts

Hey Gaman (5/2), Zaaki (10/3), Sir Dancealot (6/1), Space Traveller (7/1), Suedois (8/1), Speak In Colours (8/1), Pretty Baby (14/1), Flaming Spear (16/1), Donjuan Triumphant (20/1), Breton Rock (33/1)

Verdict

A competitive renewal of this race but with only HEY GAMAN in here to force the pace, and Frankie Dettori booked to deploy the tactics, the combination could be hard to peg back over a course and distance that can favour front-runners. Zaaki is interesting if he can continue his progression over this shorter trip but Space Traveller could be the main danger to the selection in receipt of weight from all his rivals. Suedois is always thereabouts in these types of events and holds solid place claims if the ground continues to dry out.
