Four wins overall at this track, including has last three successes (latterly over this distance and a first since 2016). Went close off this mark at Nottingham and versatile regarding ground.
Latest Hamilton success made it two wins this year and now 6lb higher. The time backed up the performance and he's still well handicapped on old form. Leading contender.
Seems to need quick ground so wouldn't want any rain. Very disappointing last twice since Hamilton win and perhaps this grade is beyond him. Best watched for now.
Infrequent winner who was overcoming a long losing run when winning over this trip at Ayr in June. A touch below that the last twice but far from disgraced and could be competitive down 1lb.
Improved performances on last three AW starts this winter. First start since February and the question is whether he can transfer the form to turf. Just the third career ride for his jockey.
On the face of it appeared to run well when third to bang in-form winner at Beverley but his high draw was an advantage that day on the soft and the fact is his losing run on turf now stretches back to 2016.
Remains a maiden following 15 starts and has failed to recapture last year's form since her return, all in a grade lower. Others look stronger candidates.
Dual Tapeta winner (2017) who has tumbled down the weights following some poor form until his close fourth off this mark at Doncaster. Yet to win from 18 turf starts but that run gives him place prospects.
Still without a win following 72 starts which makes her hard to recommend on that stat alone. Place hopes at her best but others readily preferred.
Forecasts
Super Julius (11/4), Johnny Cavagin (3/1), Shepherd's Purse (4/1), Paco Escostar (6/1), Young Tiger (8/1), Astrophysics (14/1), Tobeeornottobee (16/1), Highly Focussed (20/1), Celerity (40/1)
Johnny Cavagin won't mind if the rain arrives or not and can go close again at a track he readily favours. Likewise SUPER JULIUS is versatile and his latest success was a strong performance at this level. Young Tiger isn't one to get carried away with for win purposes but he came back to form off this reduced mark last time.
- Super Julius
- Johnny Cavagin
- Young Tiger
