Progressive sort this winter when completing a four-timer and then racing up to his best when third at Newcastle over 7f. Below form at Wolverhampton in March, but rested since, and dangerous to dismiss from much lower turf mark.

Has improved on turf with cheekpieces fitted the last twice, third in the Carlisle Bell, and filling the same spot over 7f at Ascot last time. Return to this trip will help, and he should go well again.

Much better effort this season when winning a 1m handicap at Windsor last time by 2¼L from Data Protection. Sound claims under a penalty for that win, but he's not been the easiest to predict in the past.

Improved for switch to handicaps/AW this year, winning by a short head at Kempton in February. Ran a stinker after a break at Newbury last time, which raises doubts, but possible to make excuses for that flop, and worth noting in the market.

Barely needed to improve to win a 1m novice at Windsor in June, and made little impact on handicap debut at Ascot last time, albeit not beaten far. Dropped 1lb for that, but could do with more leniency.

Failed to stay 1¼m in maiden company three starts back, but consistent otherwise, and ran creditably when third of 12 to Ragstone View in a 1m amateur handicap at Newbury last time. More needed, but blinkers may galvanise him, so not dismissed.

Claims on the form of his second at Yarmouth in May, but he's failed to make the same impact twice since, and needs to show more spark before he can be backed.

Society Rock filly who improved when third over C&D in June. Similar form despite being beaten 9L next time, but latest effort in maiden company was a step in the wrong direction.

Forecasts

Seductive Moment (2/1), Crimewave (11/4), Pinnata (6/1), Algaffaal (7/1), Assembled (15/2), Fitzrovia (10/1), Society Guest (12/1), Greek Kodiac (14/1), My Dear Friend (16/1)

Verdict

ALGAFFAAL comes here having run with great credit on his last two starts, and he looks just about the pick of the weights, with the return to a mile expected to help. Pinnata is much lower on turf than the AW, and has claims despite top weight, with the blinkered Crimewave holding place claims again, and Seductive Moment not ruled out despite a 6lb penalty for winning a modest contest last time.
  1. Algaffaal
  2. Pinnata
  3. Seductive Moment
