Unraced as a three-year-old whose price fell from €20,000 as a yearling to just 2,500 gns at the sales last summer. Did not get the smoothest of runs on only racecourse appearance at Chelmsford in March. Long absence a concern.

Delegator filly out of a moderate dam. Finished last on debut at Kempton in May. Will have learned from that and entitled to improve. Market may be best guide.

Cheaply bought gelding; first foal; dam is closely related to some Group winners in Italy; Stable does well with three-year-olds and market may provide the best guide.

Frustrating colt who has ability and been placed in seven of his nine starts so far. Gone close over C&D last three outings and sets a fair standard despite fears he may be vulnerable in a finish.
Improved effort on her seasonal reappearance run at Yarmouth and is entitled to put in a good performance but may have to wait until racing in handicaps to be successful.

Nayef half-sister to 7f-1¼m winner Newnton Lodge and 1m winner Full Footage, from the family of Zafonic.. Finished last on only racecourse appearance at Newbury earlier this month. Should improve but may not be ready to win just yet.

Slowly getting the hang of things evidenced by a fine performance when just beaten at Redcar over six furlongs last month. Step up in trip likely to suit and looks the one to beat.

Not particularly fashionably bred but is a half sister to Graphite Star (also trained by Clive Cox) and related to winners up to a mile. Market will provide the best guide to her chances on debut.

Forecasts

Reigning Ice (6/4), Voltaic (2/1), Quirky Gertie (11/4), Dreamingofdiamonds (16/1), Brambledown (16/1), A Place To Dream (20/1), Vipin (25/1), Tilsworth Diamond (50/1), Misread (100/1), Mazmerize (100/1)

Verdict

Voltaic clearly has the best form on offer but the frustrating thing is he does not seem to want to get his head in front on the line. For this reason he can be passed over and the nod goes to QUIRKY GERTIE who has the speed to race well over six furlongs but also handles this trip. On the downside, she has yet to race on a fast surface. Best of the newcomers could be Reigning Ice with the connections having trained her half-sister.
  1. Quirky Gertie
  2. Voltaic
