Made the most of a lenient mark to score at Chepstow on handicap bow, and improved again for an easy win at Nottingham (1m, soft) last time. Form of that race is suspect, but he's clearly improving rapidly, so shortlisted.
Failed to last out over 1¼m at Ripon last time, but won over 1m at Carlisle in June, and had been running well in defeat from this mark subsequently. Should get involved back at his optimum trip.
Finished third a couple of times after winning over 1m at Chelmsford in April, but his good run of form has come to an abrupt halt since, pulling hard when well below form at Leicester on latest start. Visor tried now, and risky.
Consistent rather than progressive in novice company, but he has been racing at 6f/7f, and was noted doing good late work after getting outpaced last time. Opening mark demands more, but stiffer test is a positive.
Improved on first start since being gelded when third of 14 in a Windsor novice last time, and better than the bare result to boot. Type to progress again, and cheekpieces should aid his concentration on handicap bow.
Followed up a 5L Wolverhampton win on turf at Wetherby (1m), and was beaten less than 1L when fifth at Newcastle last time. May still improve further, so not taken lightly with a top amateur booked.
Produced a consistent level of form in four starts last year but has struggled so far this year, and no sign of an immediate revival when down the field at Beverley last time.
Proving consistent since stepped up in trip, winning at Haydock (1¼m) in May and placed at up to 1m3½f subsequently. Still fairly treated, but drop in trip is a definite concern now.
Thriving all of a sudden, following a 3¾L win at Newmarket with an equally decisive success at Leicester under a penalty. Raise 9lb for that win a month ago, but he could well have more to offer.
Well bred gelding who has been too keen for his own good, but shaped well when 3¾L fourth of 12 to Ragstone View in an amateur handicap at Newbury last time. Should build on that if a hood continues to have a positive effect.
Forecasts
Chance (9/4), Moftris (11/2), Amadeus Grey (13/2), Antico Lady (7/1), Potenza (8/1), Balladeer (12/1), Highwaygrey (12/1), Brandy Spirit (14/1), Noble Account (16/1), Sootability (25/1)
Chance is on a hat-trick after a couple of wins against lesser rivals, and needs respect, but this is definitely a stiffer task, and preference is for POTENZA, who was thriving last month, and will hopefully return from a short break in the same form. Moftris has a bit to find on form, but improved markeldy last time, and could be the type to take another big step up now handicapping.
- Potenza
- Moftris
- Chance
