Newcomer by US Sire Into Mischief cost $170,000 as a yearling and is half-brother to US winners Conquest Sure Shot (6.5f-8.5f dirt/turf inc 2yo) and Eel (7f dirt). Dirt bred but from top yard with fine record with newcomers so highly respected here.
160,000gns yearling newcomer by Night Of Thunder is a half-brother to winners Perfection (6f-7f inc Listed) and Munawer (8.6f-10.5f). From top yard so merits respect on debut and market support would add to confidence.
By excellent two-year-old sire No Nay Never and cost 450,000gns as a yearling. Half-brother to winners Jaganory (5f-6f inc at 2) and Poppy Jag (5f). Very speedy pedigree but yard's debutants often need a run.
£45,000 yearling by Foostepsinthesand out of a dam unplaced 6f-1m, half-sister to French 1m 2yo Listed winner Gwaihir. Others appeal more pedigree-wise and yard's two-year-olds often better for a run.
By Kodiac and half-brother to winners Face The Facts (2m Listed/1m3f), Freedoms Light (1m4f AW/Listed), Oh Beautiful (French 1m3f-12.5f inc Listed) and Opal Blue (Fr 1m3f). Likely to need much further but never disregard a newcomer from this yard.
£85,000 son of Dandy Man ran an excellent race on debut when fourth of 15 at Doncaster (6f) beaten just ½L in a blanket finish having led 1f out. As the only one to have run and so well he is the one to beat here.
€260,000 yearling by Lope De Vega is the first foal out of a 5f/6f 2yo winner (inc Listed). Represents top yard well capable with newcomers and highly respected on debut given speedy dam side pedigree.
Forecasts
Man Of Promise (10/11), Mums Tipple (5/1), Surf Dancer (13/2), Mr Kiki (10/1), Shoot To Kill (10/1), My Thought (12/1), Molatham (14/1)
The only one of these to race, SHOOT TO KILL ran really well on debut at Doncaster belying his 33/1 odds to finish a very close fourth and that effort represents a good standard especially with improvement likely. His rivals however hail from almost all of the top yards so there is every chance of bumping into a smart one and perhaps the most likely is Surf Dancer although Man Of Promise must also be feared given no trainer does better with two-year-old debutants than Charlie Appleby.
- Shoot To Kill
- Surf Dancer
- Man Of Promise
