Much better on Tapeta than turf, but is handicapped accordingly and showed his current mark was workable when ½L third of 11 to Mr Coco Bean at Haydock last time.

Winner of a Redcar amateur riders' event in October, but out of sorts since a fair return to action at Doncaster in March. Cheekpieces reached for after latest disappointment.

Irish import who was making his debut for this stable when shaping quite well to be fifth over 1m1½f at Wolverhampton. Not discredited at Kempton in February, and the handicapper has given him a chance, so needs a market check.

Finally shed his maiden tag at Chepstow on seasonal reappearance and hasn't been disgraced in four starts since. 6L last of six on most recent run can be forgiven and should be competitive on first start since leaving Mick Channon.

Sole win came over 1½m at Brighton in 2017. Ran well over 1¼m there on penultimate start, but below form twice since, albeit finding 1m too sharp here last time.

Won over 1m at Chelmsford in October. Respectable efforts last three starts over mile and further this season, and found drop to 7f against him last time. Still needs to raise his game to be competitive, though.

Has improved of late, winning over 1¼m at Yarmouth and running at least as well when fourth under a penalty there last time. Now 1lb lower, and she should be involved once more.

Best efforts have come over 1m, winning at Kempton in March, so has stamina to prove, although probably did too much in front on his previous try. Worth another chance at this trip with yard in fine form.

Forecasts

The Throstles (7/2), Greyzee (4/1), Light Of Air (9/2), Elsie Violet (5/1), Banksy's Art (8/1), Harlow (10/1), Grandscape (12/1), Edge (14/1), Galactic Spirit (33/1)

Verdict

Greyzee deserves a market check for all he's unproven at the trip, his form treading well otherwise, and The Throstles is on a mark he can exploit on turf based on recent runs, but the verdict goes to the progressive 3-y-o filly ELSIE VIOLET, who ran well under a penalty at Yarmouth last time, with the winner having franked the form subsequently.
  1. Elsie Violet
  2. Greyzee
  3. The Throstles
