12-race maiden; back to something like his peak form when finishing 1¾L third to Ascot Week at Ripon (1m, good to firm) 13 days ago; must enter the reckoning.
6f Ayr winner (August 2018); showed early pace and in there pitching until late when beaten 1¼L by Tomily at Ayr (6f, good) on Monday; stamina over 7f?; stablemate of Charlie's Boy.
Godolphin cast-off (£125,000 yearling who was sold unraced for £800 in January 2019; third of five on handicap debut at Carlisle (7f, good to firm) 15 days ago; stablemate of Ghathanfar.
Six-race maiden; has fallen 8lb in the weights since introduced to handicapping at Thirsk (6f, good to soft) in May; visor applied now dropping back in trip from 1m.
Six-race maiden; placed on three occasions, including when beaten 4¾L (third) by Potenza at Leicester (1m, good) in June; remains feasibly weighted.
Down the field (11th of 18) on handicap and seasonal debut at Thirsk (6f, good to firm) this month; 2lb lower needing to make a significant leap forward; stablemate of Kolossus.
Invincible Spirit gelding (Shadwell cast-off); left his previous maiden/novice form in the past when showing speed on handicap debut at Thirsk (7f) last month, finishing 1¼L second to Bee Machine; 1lb higher; stablemate of Kind Review.
Former Irish racer; is now a nine-race maiden after making a couple of starts (both over 6f) for Geoff Harker; prominent until weakened inside the final furlong at Ripon a fortnight ago.
Six-race maiden who wouldn't fall into the progressive category; that said, he did hit the frame on his first attempt over this trip at Ayr (good to firm) 13 days ago; boasts similar place claims.
Ten-race maiden; has shown ability over both 6f and 7f, and her trainer has featured among the winners lately; same mark as when beaten 1½L by Tai Sing Yeh at Ayr (6f, good to firm) in May; interesting at a price.
Eight-race maiden; falling down the handicap quickly; should appreciate clashing with horses of his own age after finishing seventh of 16 (40-1) to Ginger Jam at Beverley (5f) 16 days ago; stamina an obvious concern.
Ten-race maiden of seemingly an average level of ability; slowly into stride and never constructively involved at Nottingham (1m+, good) on Tuesday.
Forecasts
Kolossus (7/2), Mac Ailey (5/1), Fume (5/1), Firsteen (7/1), Kind Review (8/1), Gylo (12/1), Ghathanfar (12/1), Charlie's Boy (14/1), Furyan (20/1), Gunnison (20/1), Muhallab (22/1), Rangefield Express (25/1)
An open race for horses of limited ability. The topweight Fume must enter the reckoning on the strength of some of his better efforts, including when a close third to Ascot Week (beaten since) at Ripon, while Gunnison isn't necessarily progressive either but did finish second on his first attempt at this trip at Ayr. Meanwhile, Ghathanfar is probably the pick of the Tracy Waggott-trained duo. However, with the Alistair Whillans string showing increasing signs of life in recent days, some outside of the box thinking sees the pin fall upon the filly FIRSTEEN who ought to be capable of picking up a race of this nature from a very low handicap mark.
- Firsteen
- Ghathanfar
- Fume
