Has gone backwards the last thrice after enjoying a fruitful time of things. Couldn't even complete last time when pulled-up at Bellewstown (3m; good); under pressure a long way from home then. Plenty of faith required to fancy him.

Stable/jockey combo in terrific form at present which should aid his cause. Unsuccesful on first run over hurdles since November when only managing to finish eighth at Bellewstown (3m; good) at the start of the month. Now 0-9 over smaller obstacles.

0-10 but has posted fine efforts in defeat the last twice at this track. Well-supported 100-30f most recently but could only manage fourth. Should remain competitive and claiming jockey offsets handy 7lb.

Admirable servant, jockey booking catches the eye after an eye-catching effort when third at Limerick (2m6f; good) last week. Won over C&D before and is of definite interest in an uncompetitive affair.

Not matched the form of his Fairyhouse (2m4f; good to yielding) win in February. A string of midfield efforts have followed since then, and he is still 2lb above last winning mark. Unlikely to surge back to form when in current mood.

Has ran exclusively at Downpatrick over 2m4f/2m5f in four starts since May. Been quite inconsistent since switched to the handicap sphere, and is very hard to fancy on the basis of his profile overall. Can only be watched.

Still unexposed over hurdles but didn't show much improvement for the switch to the handicap sphere when well-beaten at Tipperary (3m; good) at the start of this month. Not completely discounted but others seem more solid.

Ran encouragingly in a pair of Tramore (2m5f; soft/heavy) handicap hurdles in December/January, after returning from a spell in the Point-To-Point ranks. Likely to encounter vastly different ground conditions now though.

Forecasts

Bye Bye O Bye (10/3), Eimear (7/2), Miracle Way (9/2), Toosey (5/1), Le Hachette (6/1), Classic Escape (11/1), Beeper's Ruby (12/1), Pass Cross (28/1), Captain Leo (33/1)

Verdict

A similarly difficult race to gauge as the preceding contest, with small stakes advised. After a trio of respectable efforts in defeat lately (the last twice at this track), Eimear should be involved at the business end of proceedings once more, while Classic Escape is also worth a mention if the application of headgear works the trick, as he has gone off the boil a bit of late. A chance is taken on BYE BYE O BYE though, of whom Davy Russell gets the leg up on after this 12-year-old veteran hinted at a return to form when third at Limerick a few days ago. It is worth noting that he has won over this C&D in the past too.
  1. Bye Bye O Bye
  2. Eimear
  3. Classic Escape
