Fine performer for connections who won this race last year. Returned to form when 1l third in Chester Listed contest (7f, good) six days ago, with Marie's Diamond in behind him. Can be inconsistent but bold bid from the front is expected.

Hasn't won in nearly two years but has run creditably at a higher level. Fifth in York Group 2 on penultimate start before 3L ninth in the Wokingham at Royal Ascot. This is an easier contest and holds claims.

Returned from 567-day absence when fourth in Listed race at Doncaster before pulling up in the Wokingham Stakes. Looked like something was amiss that day but unknown as whether he is the same horse he once was.

Group 3 winner as a juvenile who has been kept busy this season. Ran well enough when denied a clear run in 7f Chester Listed race last time. Enters calculations especially with the three-year-old allowance.

Verdict

Most of the runners are proven in group or handicap level and this looks like a prime opportunity for MARIE'S DIAMOND to register a confidence-boosting victory after some promising efforts this season. He recieves 7lb from his nearest rival and given he is proven at a higher level he looks like the one to beat. Tabarrak has shown himself to be effective at both a higher level and over C&D and could provide the sternest challenge despite giving weight away to all of his rivals, while Salateen and Hey Jonesy perform well in classier contests to suggest they should be thereabouts.
