£38,000 yearling; half-brother to a couple of winners, including the useful 7f-1m2f scorer Indian Jack; 50-1 when slowly into stride and never involved on Newbury debut (6f, good to firm) a fortnight ago.
€110,000 yearling; 14th foal; brother to the Listed winner Tha'ir (6f-1m3f) and also Emerald Approach (6f); half-brother to six other winners; one to monitor very closely in the market exchanges with Silvestre De Sousa aboard.
30,000gns yearling; took a marked step forward when upped in trip at Salisbury (6f, soft) last month, beaten ¾L by Gold Venture; should be fine over 7f; of those with previous racecourse experience he sets the clear standard in terms of form.
Frankel filly; first foal from a 1m-2m3f winning dam (Alwilda) who was a half-sister to the 1m3f German Group 3 scorer Algometer; interesting to see how she fares in the market but looks to be more of a type for middle-distance races with time.
€47,000 foal, 5,000gns yearling; 9-1 when always toiling (seventh of eight) on debut over C&D (good) a fortnight ago; rates as an unlikely candidate on the strength of that evidence alone.
Footstepsinthesand filly from a Listed-placed 1m4f winning dam; 40-1 when seventh of nine to the Saeed Bin Suroor-trained Picture Frame on debut at Newbury (7f, good to soft) 23 days ago; needs to do better in order to play a prominent role.
Forecasts
Flashing Approach (7/4), Alpinista (9/4), Goodwood Rebel (7/2), Bermuda Schwartz (10/1), Buy Nice Not Twice (11/1), Pearl Beach (16/1)
Those with previous racecourse experience don't set the bar overly high, although it's perfectly fair to state that Goodwood Rebel was finishing off well when a much improved second at Salisbury (6f, soft). However, with different ground conditions forecast we'll chance that the Mark Johnston-trained FLASHING APPROACH is sharp enough to make a winning debut. This well-related colt cost €110,000 as a yearling and has the distinct advantage of having the reigning (three-time) champion jockey Silvestre De Sousa aboard.
