Scored over C&D last summer on his final start for Chris Dwyer, but he's been largely disappointing for Amy Murphy this year. Eased a little in class now making debut for a new yard, but he does have to step up to figure.
Three-time AW winner and posted his first solid form on turf when 3¾L fifth of 8 to Texting in a C&D handicap last time. More required to take a major hand, but that was a step in the right direction.
Off the best part of a year after winning a Ripon novice as a juvenile, and three runs this season suggest he simply hasn't trained on. Failed to beat a rival on handicap debut last time, and makes limited appeal from just 3lb lower.
Hails from a very good family, and although he's yet to improve on his debut effort last season, he has been hindered by slow starts on both outings in handicaps. A visor may help him break on terms, and if so he's in with every chance.
Won at Chelmsford last May for Chris Dwyer, but it's been downhill since, and two runs this year for her current yard have been very poor.
Showed very little in three starts last season but was well backed on handicap bow at Windsor in April and duly obliged. Not disgraced in two starts since, and drops in class with a hood fitted for the first time here. Should go close.
Best effort to date when third in first-time cheekpieces at Chelmsford in May off 1lb higher. Failed to match that form last time, and headgear left off now. Bit to prove back on turf, but on a fair mark if finding best form.
Several creditable efforts over longer trips this year, but he ran a stinker at Chelmsford last time, and while than can be excused in isolation, a drop to 5f doesn't look what he needs.
Forecasts
Tone The Barone (2/1), Phoenix Star (11/4), Simba Samba (7/2), Invincible Larne (11/2), Sandridge Lad (12/1), Awarded (16/1), The Last Party (25/1), Gifted Zebedee (33/1)
TONE THE BARONE has shown a consistent level of form since his Windsor win in April and, now eased slightly in class, might well be able to put his head in front again in this evening's finale. Invincible Larne has rather been scuppering his hopes early on and may benefit from new headgear to get away alertly and greatly increase prospects while Phoenix Star and Awarded could fight it out for minor money.
- Tone The Barone
- Invincible Larne
- Phoenix Star
