Looks to be in good form this season. Progressed from fourth in 1m2f Chelmsford handicap to finish third of five at Nottingham (1m, good) last time. This trip is likely to suit better and has place claims off top weight.
C&D winner last year and hasn't been beaten far in his last two starts, including when 2L third over C&D at the start of the month. Now 1lb below last winning mark and can't be discounted.
Lightly raced four-year-old who sole Redcar novice victory to show from five starts. Struggled when eighth in 1m2f Chester handicap when last seen and limitations are starting to look exposed, albeit this an easier task.
Yet to win on turf but generally running with credit this season until disappointing last in 1m Hamilton handicap on latest start. Tumbling down the weights and this trip should suit better, but vulnerable to one or two rivals.
Running moderately well this season and was a 6L fourth in typically competitive Ascot handicap (1m, good to firm) in May. Off since but is now 8lb off last winning mark. On the shortlist if stamina stretches out.
Two C&D wins last season and has been consistent this season. Put up career best when 2L sixth in competitive 1m2f Sandown handicap last time out and dropped 2lb for that effort. Enters calculations.
Took his form to a new level in last two starts, finishing second in 1m2f handicaps at Doncaster and most recently Sandown. This looks to be a weaker contest and good opportunity to break his handicap duck.
Proven in this grade when landing 1m2f Leicester handicap three starts ago and wasn't disgraced when fifth of six at Chester (1m2f, good) on latest start. Needs to bounce back from that but is well weighted.
Forecasts
Hats Off To Larry (7/4), Mandarin (5/2), Showroom (5/1), Rotherwick (10/1), Isomer (10/1), Michele Strogoff (14/1), Geetanjali (16/1), Nonios (20/1)
HATS OFF TO LARRY established himself in a higher level of handicaps on his latest start and in what looks to be an easier contest, he is the preference and could make a mockery of his current handicap mark. Place claims can be made for a handful of horses but Mandarin seems to be on the upgrade and getting his act together in this type of company now, while Rotherwick has fallen back to a workable mark and his C&D form could see him run well.
