Like several of this trainer's better juveniles he made a winning debut at Carlisle (5f, soft) having cost £220,000 at the breeze-ups. Strong in the betting, he overcame inexperience to win well; steps up to 6f (even bigger step up in class).
Posted a useful debut effort (knew what was required) when powering home at Goodwood over 6f (won 6L). Built on that display in a much tougher scenario (Coventry Stakes; 6f) on quicker ground last time (third); proven at this level and may progress.
Comes here seeking a hat-trick having taken his last two starts getting off the mark at the third attempt at York (5f) making good use of his experience. Followed up in determined fashion in a three-runner affair at Pontefract (6f); tougher test.
Winner over 5f on debut (AW) he found Listed company just too hot in a couple of subsequent starts (second both occasions). Ran as well as could be expected in the Group 2 Norfolk Stakes last time; some way down the Ballydoyle juvenile batting order.
Confirmed his AW debut promise with an easy odds-on victory on turf at Leicester over 6f before looking very much at home in a higher grade at Royal Ascot (Windsor Castle). Second there over 5f (travelled well); will appreciate this return to 6f.
Made a winning start to his career when picking up a Navan maiden over just short of 6f. Needed to improve on that next time (did to a certain extent) when pitched in at this level (Coventry Stakes); better than seventh behind stablemate Arizona.
Gained plenty of plaudits for his easy C&D victory from a yard that know how to ready one for a juvenile debut. Looked well clued up for his initial experience returning a good time; this is a sharp rise in grade; he looks set to cope well with it.

Visinari (4/6), Guildsman (7/2), Platinum Star (10/1), Royal Lytham (11/1), Classy Moon (11/1), King Neptune (14/1), Hurstwood (33/1), Dogged (50/1)
The Coventry Stakes is often a good guide to this with the recent record of placed horses from that race reading 233221; that would bring Guildsman into the reckoning although his trainer is yet to have a juvenile winner on the July course. The Aidan O’Brien pair King Neptune and Royal Lytham both have work to do in this based on their Royal Ascot form although the latter was better than his final placing. It will come as no surprise if Visinari wins this easily as he’s proven over C&D winning his maiden in impressive style, a view backed up by the clock. But looking at a value angle PLATINUM STAR for a yard who do well at this meeting is taken to surprise.
- Platinum Star
- Visinari
- Guildsman
