Visor and tongue-tie headgear combination returns having failed to beat a rival home in his last two starts. Back on turf now (both wins have come on AW); plenty to prove on what he's shown of late although this is an ease in grade.

Caused a shock on her handicap debut winning at 40-1 over this trip on her second run for this yard. Two contrasting starts since running well on her follow up effort before failing to fire last time; has a little to prove off this mark.

Out-and-out front runner who has taken his last two starts at Brighton in dominating style (ran poorly at Bath in between). Capable at this trip and won off a mark of 72 last year so not weighted out of events here with an easy lead.

Never really gone on from his maiden win back in 2017 on the AW (with Richard Hannon); beaten in seven handicaps since then at up to 1m. Now with a top trainer of sprinters; starting to look well handicapped, yet to take advantage of the situation.

Took back-to-back 6f handicaps in July/August last year (both on quick ground) before ending the season a little tamely. Shaped as if she has retained all her ability this year; ran near her best last time back up to 6f, slipped to a workable mark.

Tried over further for his first two handicaps starts (1m/7f); shaped much dropped to this trip last time from a mark (68) that he looked competitive off. Dropped a further 2lb/blinkers on first-time taking on elders for the first time.

Verdict

The chances are that King Crimson will be able to gain an easy lead here and it won’t be easy for the rest of the field to peg back this game veteran who appears to be in rude health at the moment; he should remain competitive even off this mark. Paul Midgely has a good record in this race (won it in 2016/17, 4th last year) so his Mostahel must be respected especially as he’s falling down the handicap. Hard to trust Dr Doro after her Newbury antics and this looks a good opportunity for STEWARDESS to get back on the winning trail especially as she’s got a falling mark to work with now in conditions that will suit.
  1. Stewardess
  2. King Crimson
  3. Mostahel
