72,000 gns yearling out of a mare who won over 1m2f and is closely related to this years Lockinge Stakes winner Mustashry. Pedigree suggests he will want further in time but represents a trainer who has a 56% strike rate with juveniles this year.

Son of New Approach and out of champion three-year-old Australian filly Serenade Rose and optimum distance is likely to be 1m-1m2f. Yard has slowly come into form in recent weeks so interesting if there's market support.

Promising third of seven on Newmarket debut (7f, good) behind a useful rival and was denied a clear run at a crucial stage. That form looks to be strong and likely to be more streetwise this time. Leading contender.

45,000 gns purchase as a yearling and half-brother to three-time 1m winner Reaver. Sire was a precocious two-year-old over 5f and worth a betting check on racecourse debut.

4/6
Kingman colt who showed significant greenness on debut but rallied to finish a narrow second over C&D. Highly regarded prospect by connections and the one to beat if his flaws have been ironed out.

70,000 gns yearling whose dam was a listed winner over 1m1f in France and is a half-brother to three-time winner Clotilde (1m) and Marylebone (7f). Could be vulnerable to a good one but can't be ruled out.

Forecasts

Riot (4/6), Moolhim (3/1), Fahad (8/1), What An Angel (12/1), Laser Show (14/1), Morisco (50/1)

Verdict

MOOLHIM is the preference to get off the mark at the second attempt against some promising types in this contest. If he didn't encounter trouble on his debut he would have finished closer in what looked to be a hot Newmarket maiden and is the one to beat. Riot is likely to prove to be a tough challenge but he hung badly left at this track on his debut which will be a concern for connections again, while Fahad is likely to benefit from this run given his progressive - yet classy - pedigree.
  1. Moolhim
  2. Riot
  3. Fahad
