Notched a hat-trick for David O'Meara in late 2017 (1m-1m2f) but didn't trouble the judge throughout 2018; stable debut when beaten 3L (third) by Motahassen over C&D on heavy; has produced a similar effort at York since; on a fair mark.

New Approach filly; ran well on her seasonal debut at Newmarket (1m) in April when finishing a distant third to Maqsad/Twist 'N' Shake; hasn't matched that form since, including on recent Sandown (1m1f) handicap debut; remains unexposed.

Seven-race maiden; has left the care of Tom Dascombe since disappointing at Chester (1m4f, soft) in May; sits 4lb lower in the weights on debut for Donald McCain; can only be monitored at present.

Gennarot65
Age: 3|  Weight: 8-13| J: P Hanagan| T: I Furtado| OR:  65
8/1
Only 1lb higher than when finishing a close second to Conundrum at Pontefract (1m) in April; a more recent poor run at Southwell can probably be forgiven (Fibresand); is unexposed but has stamina to prove.

The Gingerbreadman22
Age: 4|  Weight: 8-9| J: Paula Muir(5)| T: C W Fairhurst| OR:  45
66/1
14-race maiden; hasn't beaten a single rival in his last couple of starts; it's impossible to say how he'll cope with this new trip, but he certainly isn't bred for 1m2f; makes very little appeal.

Forecasts

Pioneering (9/4), Mr Coco Bean (4/1), Artistic Streak (5/1), Little India (7/1), Gennaro (8/1), Glorious Dane (11/1), The Throstles (14/1), Maghfoor (18/1), Guvenor's Choice (25/1), Smoki Smoka (40/1), The Gingerbreadman (66/1)

Verdict

The in-form Mr Coco Bean presents an obvious starting point. He was a shade unlucky not to score over C&D on his penultimate start (finished very strongly) and has previous with Maghfoor, who although disappointing on his last two starts does hold a realistic chance from a handicapping perspective. A couple of the more interesting three-year-old's are the unexposed fillies' Little India and Artistic Streak, both of whom have some creditable efforts in the form book. However, the tentative nod goes to the Roger Fell-trained PIONEERING. Ideally he might prefer a softer surface but he's on a fair mark and should find a winning opportunity sooner or later.
