Ran a mighty race to finish third in 1m1f Lingfield handicap on first start in nearly three years. However, handicapper has taken no chances on her and likely to find her debut in this company tough.

Hasn't won since June 2017 but has performed with credit this season, including second in 1m2f Brighton handicap. Remains on that same mark but a bit more needed and hasn't won over 1m4f in his career.

Was out of sorts since Newcastle win last March but showed signs of a revival when fifth of 13 at Windsor (1m3f, good to soft) on latest start. Remains on the same mark though, but interesting for a good apprentice jockey.

C&D winner last season and ran well on first start since wind surgery when third in 1m4f Southwell handicap in May. 1lb lower than his C&D win and has solid claims.

1 from 20 on turf and ran poorly when 11th in Windsor handicap (1m3f, good to soft) last month. Dropped 2lb for that effort but needs to bounce back on evidence of recent from.

Has improved run to run this season, most recently when narrowly denied in Bath handicap (1m5f, good) eight days ago. Gelded since and blinkers seemed to help that day and they are retained. One for the shortlist.

Not progressed since Yarmouth win this time last year and has been tumbling down the handicap. Creditable fourth in 1m3f Lingfield handicap on latest start and dropped 1lb for that. Interesting contender.

All four wins this year have come on the AW and is 2lb lower for good fourth under a penalty in 1m2f Chelmsford handicap. Can't be dismissed but needs to prove he is as effective on turf.

Seven-race maiden but has been placed on his last three starts, including a good third of nine at Goodwood (1m2f, soft) last time out. A bit more to find if he is to get his head in front but has each-way claims.

Posted an improved effort when fourth of 12 at Salisbury (1m4f, soft) on latest start and dropped 1lb in the handicap for that effort. But more needed on form to be competitive.

Winner at Nottingham three starts ago but has been well held in two start since, the latter when sixth in 1m3f Yarmouth handicap. Still 3lb above last winning mark and is easy to oppose.

Forecasts

Queen's Soldier (10/3), Hermocrates (4/1), Foresee (6/1), Ignatius (13/2), Peace Prevails (7/1), Ideal Grace (8/1), Hatsaway (10/1), Esspeegee (12/1), Amangiri (12/1), Il Sicario (14/1), Rainbow Jazz (16/1), Muraaqeb (20/1), Onomatopoeia (33/1)

Verdict

In a race where it appeals to look towards the bottom of the weights, HERMOCRATES looks to have the standout form based on his narrow Bath second and the gelding operation could help the three-year-old progress further. Foresee is an interesting contender based on his encouraging reappearance - where the wind operation has seemingly helped - and is entitled to improve for that run, while Queen's Soldier has been consistent but usually finds one or two too good.
  1. Hermocrates
  2. Foresee
  3. Queen's Soldier
