No immediate promise in pair of maidens at huge prices and likely minor handicaps await after this qualifying run.

Green in pair of maidens at this trip four months apart if anything showing a bit less on second start at Sandown recently. More needed and likely to do better in handicaps after this.

Definite signs of ability in pair of maidens at this trip on AW then on good ground at Lingfield. May want further in time but has shown enough to show she could figure here.

Didn't show much on debut so surprise to see her pitched into Listed company on second run at Goodwood. Not disgraced when 10L seventh of nine and this a far more realistic assignment.

12/1 when runner up on good to soft debut at Goodwood behind stable companion who was also on her first outing. Not easy to assess the form but open to improvement for top stable.

Beaten just the one rival in pair of maidens on very different ground and not hard to look elsewhere today.

65,000 gns yearling. Second foal of a dam who stayed this trip. Yard's older newcomers normally come on for the experience.

Lots to like about her debut on good to firm at Salisbury last month when getting the hang of things to split a pair with experience. Looks sure to come on a lot for that and even the bare form probably sets the standard.

37,000 gns yearling. Eighth foal. half-sister to Listed winner at this trip Crystal Gal. Belated debut for yard also represented by Sweet Promise so interesting to see how they compare in market.

28/1 on Wetherby debut at this trip last month when staying into fourth having been green. Entitled to step up on that though form has taken a few knocks.

€28,000 yearling. Fourth foal and previous three siblings all won from 7f to 1m2f. Yard capable of readying a newcomer and worth noting for any market confidence.

Forecasts

The Very Moon (8/11), Merry Vale (2/1), Love Explodes (9/1), Walk It Talk It (16/1), Vibrance (20/1), Sweet Promise (25/1), J Gaye (25/1), We've Got The Love (40/1), Caen Na Coille (50/1), Sweet Dreamer (66/1), Quiet Shy (100/1)

Verdict

THE VERY MOON shaped with loads of promise on Salisbury debut and with any normal progress is entitled to give Sir Michael Stoute his third winner in this race in the last four years. Love Explodes was far from disgraced in Listed company at Goodwood and will find this much more to her liking. Along with Merry Vale she could chase the selection home.
  1. The Very Moon
  2. Love Explodes
  3. Merry Vale
