Won 7f novice stakes at Newmarket last year and has been placed in both handicaps over a mile this term. Raised 1lb since Goodwood third last time and cheekpieces now applied. Trainer has 18% strike rate with his 3yo's here.

Off the mark at the third time of asking when pooping up at 20/1 last month in mile Windsor maiden. Going the right way and good claimer removes 3lb so has every chance on handicap bow.

Unraced as a juvenile. fair third to decent sort at Kempton penultimate start the showed good attitude when running in well to lead last strides on handicap bow at Windsor last time. Raised 3lb but handles conditins and should make another bold bid.

Progressive form in three starts this spring finishing fair third in Beverley maiden last time. Makes handicap debut off feasible mark and yard continues in solid form.

Forecasts

Bighearted (7/4), Pennywhistle (15/8), Venusta (5/2), Summer Bride (11/1)

Verdict

A very trappy contest in which all four have a chance. There was a lot to like about the way VENUSTA knuckled down and won in the last stride at Windsor last time and she is fancied to just get the better of the argument once again. Top weight Pennywhistle is open to improvement in the first-time cheekpieces and is feared, and both Summer Bride and Bighearted will rightly have their supporters in a contest that sets punters quite a puzzle.
  1. Venusta
  2. Pennywhistle
  3. Bighearted
