Last three wins have all come over 2m at Doncaster where he scored again on seasonal bow in April. Found out in higher grade at York last time but back at this level has claims and was runner-up in staying event on only previous visit here.
Grand veteran who won this race 12 months ago off 2lb higher mark and has run well all three starts so far this term, including when close fourth at Chester last time. Looks sure to be in the thick of the action.
Rattled off a staying hat-trick this spring and ran very well in higher grade when fourth in hot staying handicap at York last time. Runs off same mark but stamina has to be taken on trust over this extra two furlongs on a stiffer track.
Third over C&D on only previous visit four years ago. Goes on any ground, stays well, and was fair third in Ffos Las handicap hurdle last time. Not getting any younger but is 6lb lower than last Flat win at Chester in 2017.
Has a win and three places to here name here from five attempts so clearly goes well at this stiff track. Won Cartmel 2m6f handicap hurdle last month and is just 4lb higher than her win here last June. Has every chance.
Placed in three bumpers a couple of seasons ago for Susan Corbett but form deteriorated on Flat towards end of last season. Has had wind surgery and makes debut for new yard over much longer trip. Hard to fancy.
Stable companion of Arty Campbell and appears yard's second string. Regressive form and runs from 7lb out of the handicap so is very hard to enthuse over on these terms.
Forecasts
Becky The Thatcher (5/2), Suegioo (5/2), Champarisi (7/2), Handiwork (11/2), Forewarning (12/1), Norab (20/1), Arty Campbell (20/1)
The lovable Suegioo should make a bold bid to land this for the second year running but in BECKY THE THATCHER he faces a rival in good form who loves it here, and in receipt of 18lb is fancied to come out on top. Handiwork is respected with a top jockey on board and despite top weight isn't out of it, and Arty Campbell is nicely handicapped if able to roll back the years and capture a bit of old form. Champarisi has to priove his stamina over this new trip.
- Becky The Thatcher
- Suegioo
- Handiwork
