A gelding who clearly has issues, refusing to race twice at Cartmel in the spring/summer of 2017; was returning from a lengthy absence when struggling from halfway, and tailed off here (2m4f) three weeks ago.
Former Irish racer; poor form in three starts on these shores for Patrick Holmes and Andy Crook; easing in the weights but very difficult to consider as a realistic threat now returning from a six-month absence.
Well supported and given a patient ride by Grant Cockburn when justifying favouritism over C&D (good) last month; 2-2 at this track and remains on a competitive mark; with conditions ideal ought to go close if in the same form.
Sole hurdles win (1-14) came in a 2m Ballinrobe maiden (yielding/soft) for Joseph O'Brien in August 2017; undeniably is very well handicapped nowadays so will win again eventually; connections continue to tinker with various forms of headgear.
Beaten just ¾L at Newcastle (2m) in April 2018, but that race was on desperately heavy ground; poor since, dropping a combined total of 6lb in the weights.
Prominent racer; beaten ½L when reeled in by today's rival Sense Of Urgency over C&D (good) last month; a fraction underwhelming since, although held little real chance on the Flat at Carlisle (2m1f) latest.
Falling very quickly in the handicap and did travel a bit better last time out (Southwell), although when push came to shove, found little; conditions are fine so could feasibly sneak a place at a price if he's in the mood.
Often races up with the pace but regularly found wanting at the finish; did manage to win a 2m Catterick selling handicap (by 14L) in March; ran respectably when beaten 7L by Melody of Scotland over C&D (good) three weeks ago.
Dual C&D winner who is just 1lb higher than when beating Budarri by 5L in June 2018 (good); runner up in this contest 12 months ago, and certain to strip fitter for last month's comeback run (ninth of ten to Sense Of Urgency).
Seven-race maiden; ultimately was well beaten on handicap debut at Bangor (2m½f, good to soft) earlier this month, that was despite getting herself into a challenging position at the third last; dropped 5lb; needs more.
17-race maiden; very slowly away and always in rear on the Flat at Carlisle (2m1f) 12 days ago; 0-6 over hurdles, beaten 17+L when finishing third to Lady Samback in a Class 4 mares' handicap at Perth (2m, good) last month.
Ten race maiden with very uninspiring form figures (PR9UP) since April 2018; virtually impossible to identify any positive traits on his return to action from a five month absence; look elsewhere.
Stablemate of Valgor Du Ronceray; 38-race rules maiden (0-20 over hurdles); didn't take at all well to the larger obstacles at this track (2m4f, good) last month; no surprise that he switches back to hurdles; others more appealing.
Forecasts
Frightened Rabbit (11/4), Sense Of Urgency (3/1), Valgor Du Ronceray (8/1), Hey Bob (9/1), Kisumu (10/1), Cherry Princess (12/1), Anguino (14/1), Wise Coco (16/1), Northandsouth (20/1), Alfiboy (20/1), Barney's Caulker (33/1), Mondlicht (50/1), Bell Ofthe Bongate (66/1)
A sizeable field for the opening race on Ladies Day at Hexham but with the greatest of respect to connections this race contains plenty of 'deadwood'. Therefore, we'll opt to row in again with the likeable mare SENSE OF URGENCY who landed some good bets when produced late by Grant Cockburn to reel in the re-opposing Frightened Rabbit over C&D last month. Of the remainder, Cherry Princess (runner up in this in 2018) should benefit for her comeback run, while Valgor Du Ronceray will almost certainly pop up at some point in the future.
- Sense Of Urgency
- Valgor Du Ronceray
- Hey Bob
