Won back-to-back races in 2017 but failed to get on the board last year. Left first two runs back behind when a solid sixth at Epsom latest. Down 2lb and in grade, handles cut in the ground and should be competitive.
Won three on the bounce over a productive this time last year. Needed first run back and much better when posting a career best in a narrow defeat at Beverley over 7.5f. Still on the rise and versatile regarding ground. Should go close again.
Remains lightly raced and not seen since Potefract 6f win in July 2018. Stays 7f although softer ground remains an unknown. Boasts a progressive profile so market support would be interesting following such a lay-off.
Won this last year off 5lb lower and scored since on heavy ground off 3lb lower. Racing solidly in three starts this year, including a ninth in the Victoria Cup. Back in grade and no reason why he shouldn't go close.
Just two wins from 23 starts with the last coming in May 2017. Now 2lb lower and has run well in a higher grade the last twice. Handles cut in the ground and should be competitive again.
Twice a winner on soft ground as a juvenile including in Listed company. Finished last season with a poor effort and despite being gelded over the winter has again struggled twice this campaign. Dropping in the weights and grade but best watched.
Five-time winner last year and remains 5lb higher. Ran a good third on Newmarket comeback but below par in the Victoria Cup. Handles any ground but others likely better handicapped.
Made it four from 15 when winning an amateur rider's handicap at York over this distance last month. 3lb rise shouldn't be an issue, having won off just 1lb lower but prefers a quicker surface.
Remains on a competitive mark and a solid third on the AW at Newcastle this month. Should be fitter for two runs back but seems to prefer quicker ground back on turf.
Back on last winning mark and handles some juice in the ground. Has really struggled to make an impression in three starts this year, eased 2lb and in grade but could struggle again in a competitive affair.
Three-time winner handles a variety of ground and close to his best on his return from a 225-day absence when fifth in this grade at Doncaster in May. More still needed off this mark in another competitive race.
Likes soft ground but looks held by the handicapper at present at 4lb higher than last win. Needs to leave three poor runs this year well behind. Others look stronger candidates at present.
Forecasts
Byron's Choice (4/1), Hajjam (9/2), Ulshaw Bridge (6/1), Presidential (7/1), Shady Mccoy (8/1), Raydiance (9/1), Bambino Lola (9/1), Danielsflyer (10/1), Citron Major (12/1), Wahoo (16/1), Parys Mountain (22/1), Von Blucher (25/1)
A typically competitive affair for the grade with many chances. The losing run is adding up for Shady McCoy and Danielsflyer but both are likely to be thereabouts again. Hajjam is also in form and has every chance of adding to last year's win in this contest. BYRON'S CHOICE is progressive and will be better for coming back half a furlong following a half length defeat.
- Byron's Choice
- Shady Mccoy
- Hajjam
