C&D winner on good to soft in a novice event last year. Best handicap effort so far was on AW at Chelmsford, when narrowly beaten from this mark. Well held in a higher grade at Ascot latest, but respected back at this level.
Without a win on turf for almost two years and 10 starts. Up another 2lb for his latest effort in a class 2 event, which looks harsh. Could appreciate this class drop, but has that to prove.
Hasn't won on turf for three years and has never won on ground slow than good. Not nearly as good as he once was and best recent efforts have been on AW surfaces.
Has won both on AW and on fast ground on turf, the latter at Pontefract (1m) last month. 3lb higher here. Held in a better race last time, but should be more at home at this level. Not ruled out.
Has won on good to soft, but no slower than that. No turf win since 2017 or AW win for 14-months. 1lb lower here than when beaten just 1L at Wetherby two starts back, so can't write him off.
1-13 on turf, where he ran well at Nottingham (1m½f, soft) from this mark three starts ago. Not as good in either run since, but respectable last time, and not written off.
1-16 on turf, having won on good to soft at Newmarket (1m) two years ago, when 3lb lower (has won from 1lb higher on AW). Beaten 2L from this mark at Windsor latest. More needed.
6-33 on AW surfaces, but 0-6 so far on turf. Respectable run here (7f, good to firm) last time he ran on turf, but that was 13-months ago, and he has plenty to prove on recent efforts.
Placed in seven of his 13 starts, but yet to get his nose in front at the post. Handles soft ground. 9-2 last of five on his reappearance/first run post-wind surgery. Drops 2lb, but has a bit to do.
Was placed on numerous occasions before winning at Redcar (7f, soft) in a maiden last October. Disappointed at Carlisle on Monday and needs to be much better than that from the same mark here.
Sole win from 27 turf starts came on soft at Ayr (1m) last September, in a class 5 event, when 1lb higher. Has been consistent on the AW on his last seven starts, but more needed on this surface.
Forecasts
Kripke (9/2), Arcanada (11/2), Lawmaking (11/2), Calder Prince (11/2), Redgrave (6/1), Make Me (7/1), Confrontational (10/1), Bertog (12/1), Labrega (12/1), Newmarket Warrior (25/1), Critical Thinking (25/1)
Labrega should appreciate this class drop and can't be ruled out, while Calder Prince and Confrontational are others for whom cases can be made, but the answer may prove to be KRIPKE, who is another dropping in grade again and can make that count.
- Kripke
- Labrega
- Calder Prince
