Debut winner at York last year. Also won when fresh this season, scoring when upped to this trip at Newcastle (AW) in April. Matched that effort at Ripon next time, and has claims from 1lb lower, if putting a lack lustre effort last time behind him.
Won two of his first three starts last year, on good/good to firm ground. Took a couple of runs to get going this season, but took step in the right direction here on penultimate start. Respectable run last time too, but more needed.
Scored at Musselburgh (7f, good) last season, and like then, he took a while to warm up this season. Carlisle win (1m, good to soft) last time from 4lb lower proved he handles some cut. Can't rule him out.
Back-to-back winner last August when scoring at Chepstow (6f, good) and Goodwood (7f, good), the latter when 1lb lower. Has looked hamstrung by the handicapper since, but can't write him off from this mark.
Won twice on fast ground over 1m2f in April, going up 8lb in total. Held last time at Nottingham from this mark. Appeared to handle heavy ground on his only previous try on a soft surface, but this looks tough.

Astrologer (13/8), Mayfair Spirit (9/4), Amadeus Grey (11/4), Kuwait Station (7/2), Hesslewood (4/1), Sir Victor (11/2)
Hesslewood has to be respected, but his record suggests that he is best when fresh, and preference is for ASTROLOGER, who is still improving, goes well on soft ground, and can take this return to a mile in her stride. Amadeus Grey and Sir Victor can both have cases made.
