Returns to action from a six month break, and hopefully that'll have sweetened him up a fraction; has a string of second placed chasing efforts on his CV (mainly 2m4f, good); not one to have maximum faith in.

His experiences over fences to date are almost exclusive to Stratford; runner up for the second time there last month (2m1f, good) when beaten 7L by King Cnut; possibilities despite being a 20-race maiden.

Form in Irish point-to-points was mixed and had plenty to find after a modest effort on hurdles debut at Wexford. Blew that form out of the water when winning on rules chasing debut at Stratford (2m1f, soft) on Tuesday; carries 7lb extra.

Posted a clear career best over hurdles (0-10) when beaten 5L by Love The Leader at Fontwell (3m2f, good) last November; more moderate since and returns to action over fences (debut) off a 177 day absence.

18-race hurdles maiden who now embarks on a chasing career (debut); runner up to Istimraar over 2m here (good) on his penultimate start; others preferred.

Yet to get his head in front over obstacles (0-16), and unconvincing over fences so far (0-3); 8lb lower than when a weakening third of four to Sir Dylan at Fontwell (2m2f, good) on his penultimate start.

Kilmogannyp,t31
Age: 7|  Weight: 10-0| J: Sean Houlihan(3)| T: Katy Price| OR:  68
6/1
Lowly-rated maiden who is 'strongest' when allowed an uncontested lead; has regularly failed to see out his races at Huntingdon (2m4f-3m); a major surprise if he's good enough from so far out of the handicap.

Has more letters than numbers on his CV (PFPU0PPP9); has struggled over hurdles, and switches to fences wearing a newly applied tongue-tie; very difficult to fancy on these terms.

Forecasts

Impressive Duke (5/6), Wild Sam (5/2), Alexander The Grey (5/1), Kilmoganny (6/1), Boy In A Bentley (13/2), Primogeniture (9/1), St George's Oval (14/1), Downloadtheapp (20/1), Writingsonthewall (33/1)

Verdict

A race stacked full of horses who can kindly be described as 'characters', with both Boy In A Bentley and Wild Sam a couple of the more obvious cases in point. Therefore, having won readily on rules chasing debut at Stratford on Tuesday (taken out at Uttoxeter on Wednesday), the James H Black-trained IMPRESSIVE DUKE represents the most logical option. Of the remainder, perhaps the Stratford regular Alexander The Grey is best placed to follow him home.
  1. Impressive Duke
  2. Alexander The Grey
  3. Wild Sam
