Stays well and posted a solid effort over this trip on his penultimate start; has built up a good relationship with Declan McDonogh and a bold show not ruled out. Has to be high on the shortlist.

Dual purpose performer and hinted at a return to form over hurdles at Punchestown earlier this month; on a handy mark and dangerous to rule out too quickly.

0-8 on the Flat (has won on the AW) but not disgraced over 1m5f at Leopardstown earlier this month. This distance isn't a problem and should handle the conditions. Has been struggling over fences lately so might appreciate the lack of obstacles.

Sole win came over 2m at Thurles (on good to firm ground) but hasn't stood much racing since; last two outings have been regressive but on a fair mark and races from 3lb below her last run.

A one-time inmate of Luca Cumani's when trained in the UK; still a maiden (under both codes) but stays well and merits consideration in running from 4lb lower than his rating on the AW; place claims if interest revived by returning to the Flat.

Been off since last November but is a useful stayer at this sort of level and is very well treated in comparison to his AW rating of old; yard has been quiet but still worth a betting check. (Out of the handicap.)

Dual winner over hurdles but drawn a blank in just four starts on the Flat on turf; ran well over a shorter trip here in April but beaten twice over timber since. Pulled up latest and needs to show more interest.

Rated a much better horse on the AW but plenty to find on these terms. No show under today's rider last time and hard to recommend over this longer trip.

Forecasts

Grey Waters (9/4), Awayinthewest (3/1), Venezia (5/1), Teologia (5/1), Contrapposto (7/1), Lleyton (10/1), Massini's Trap (10/1), City Limits (14/1), Sang Tiger (20/1), Poitin (33/1)

Verdict

VENEZIA has a solid profile despite the modest strike-rate on the Flat but he can make sure the rest will need to stay to the line; he can grind this out at the main expense of Awayinthewest and Grey Waters, who both represent decent value to make the frame at the likely odds. City Limits and Massini's Trap are others with solid place claims on the pick of their form and are worth noting for signs of support.
  1. Venezia
  2. Awayinthewest
  3. Grey Waters
