Bumper/hurdle winner who has done fairly well in that sphere. Makes flat debut and would hold place claims at best given what he has achieved so far in his career. Burden of top-weight slightly tempers enthusiasm.

Dual bumper scorer who was considered talented enough to run in a hot bumper at the Punchestown Festival when not disgraced. Should go well and has place claims but is another one who is inconvenienced by having to give weight away to main rivals.

Becoming a tad frustrating now and has been turned over as a warm favourite the last twice, most recently when third behind Dubai Falcon at Leicester (1m4f; good to firm). Steps up in trip and has the ability but needs to put it all in.

Only just denied on debut at Carlisle (1m1f; soft). Steps up to 1m6f now, which should not inconvenience him at all, given that he is a half-brother to a couple of stayers. Major player if able to reproduce debut run.
Unable to show any progression from debut effort when finishing last of five at Goodwood (1m3f; soft) recently. Of interest when moving into the handicap sphere and so is readily opposed on what should be his final start in a maiden.

Failed to justify strong market support when sent off 13/8F at Salisbury (1m4f; soft) last time. Steps up to 1m6f now and should cope with it, given he is by Galileo. Shouldn't be judged too harshly on previous effort and is greatly respected.

No-show on both starts to date. Sent off at 100-1 on both of those runs and remains best-watched in a contest where a number of these make far greater appeal.
Took a step forward from debut effort when third at Southwell (1m3f; standard) last time behind talented stablemate Ranch Hand. Beaten a long way though and would have to step up considerably if she is to threaten to any real extent.

Forecasts

Cape Cavalli (1/1), Caravan Of Hope (5/2), Make My Day (7/2), December Second (6/1), Spirit Of Nicobar (16/1), Black Kalanisi (20/1), Utility (25/1), Lyrical Waters (33/1), Prime Approach (50/1)

Verdict

A case can be made for a few of these, including the two bumper winners, of which December Second boasts the more realistic claims as he is 2-3 in bumpers and is a very promising sort making his flat debut for a yard who are going places. Cape Cavalli was third in another fairly warm race last time and although he is becoming frustrating, he is consistent and will be there or thereabouts at the business end of the race once more. However, clear preference is for CARAVAN OF HOPE who ran a mighty race on debut when managing to finish a neck second. He steps up quite a bit in trip, but that should bring about plenty of improvement which can enable him to get off the mark.
  1. Caravan Of Hope
  2. Cape Cavalli
  3. December Second
