Cost 1.5 million gns as a yearling; his dam won both the Arc and King George over 1m4f; is showing gradual improvement with racing (although nothing startling just yet); finished 5¾L fourth of 9 in a Chester maiden (1m2f+) 43 days ago.

1m Chelmsford maiden winner (December 2018); has came up short in three starts as a 3yo (1m2f-1m6f), but did have the grave misfortune of forcing the pace against the thriving Moon King at Nottingham a fortnight ago.

Has found his forte as a stayer with successive Class 6 handicap wins at Redcar (1m6f, good to firm) and Beverley (1m4f, good to soft); 3lb higher in more competitive race, but certainly can't be dismissed off a nice racing weight of 8st 6lbs.

Forecasts

Faylaq (8/15), Battle Of Wills (4/1), Mister Chiang (13/2), Agravain (12/1), Cuban Sun (25/1)

Verdict

Just five declared runners, although this doesn't make the race any easier to solve with the progressive duo Battle Of Wills and Agravain doing battle from opposite ends of the handicap. The chances are that the race will be run at a true and even gallop with a number of those in the line-up adept at cutting out the early fractions, most notably the filly Cuban Sun who doesn't possess any other run style. Therefore, from an Arc and King George winning dam, we'll chance the upped in trip handicap debutante FAYLAQ who in all fairness has proved to be a costly flop to date.
  1. Faylaq
  2. Agravain
  3. Battle Of Wills
